Feed not posting to Twitter!
Some of my feeds (from Codeplex Projects) do not post to twitter, even though it passes the Test Feed check.
The feeds that have this problem all posted the first time, but no do not. The status for the item is "status ok - last post Mon Jan 14 16:53:47 +0000 2008", but if you view the feed in the browser there are 5 new posts since then...

Inappropriate?Hi, I just took a quick look, and the reason is that the individual item links are all identical. if you choose to include the links in the message posted to twitter, twitterfeed actually checks the links and won't post duplicate links. I implemented this in response to some feedback where old items were reposted to twitter if for some reason their pubDate changed, but the posts themselves weren't.
Since the item link (if it's always the same) isn't really very useful anyway, the easiest thing to fix this is to unselect the "include item link" checkbox in twitterfeed (when editing your individual feed settings). If you do this, twitterfeed won't check the link anymore and should post your new items.

Inappropriate?I have a similar problem with one of my feeds. I'm using Dapper to turn my Slashdot user posts into an RSS feed. It works fine as a live bookmark in Firefox, but I can't get Twitterfeed to post anything from it.
I don't think the URLs are identical in my case, since the live bookmark items all go to different places. -
Inappropriate?Krisjohn: could you let me know your feed URL, and I'll take a look when I get a minute..

Inappropriate? The post dates on that feed don't validate. It's usually a good first step (but not necessarily a guarantee, since my feed parser is not based on the same source) to validate the feed at http://feedvalidator.org.
If you do this with your feed, you'll see that the dates are invalid, and valid dates are one thing twitterfeed needs in order to decide if an item is new and should be posted to twitter. -
Inappropriate? That's odd, because the first time I tried a feed, Twitterfeed told me about the date problem. For this version it was fine.
-
Inappropriate? You're right in that the check in twitterfeed appears to think the feed is ok, but I suspect that may be a problem with the code that checks the format. I'll try and take a closer look at that. In the meantime, I think the best thing to do will be to fix the date format so that is correct - see also http://feedvalidator.org/docs/error/I...
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, unfortunately I can't alter the format. The tool just rips text from an HTML page, so I'm stuck with the date as it's been written by the Slashdot guys. I guess I'll mark out some time to learn Yahoo Pipes this year.
