Feed not showing up in Twitter
I have added my blog's feed but the posts are not appearing in twitter. The feed is accepted and parced, it's active, and my authentication checks out. From all appearances, it should be working. TwitterFeed says that the feed is active and working. Any ideas?

Inappropriate?same problem and no ones answered it. Your questions been here 10 days. Not too good for a site that's url is get satisfaction.
I’m sad

Inappropriate? Please provide details like the exact feed URL you're using, and the twitter account your posting to. Without this, I'm not in any position to suggest anything.

Thanks! It's working ... so far! -
Inappropriate? It started working, just took a while to get rolling the first time. Didn't realize it wasn't immediate. Cool product! Thank you.
I’m all set now

Inappropriate?Hi Mario, I am also having this problem, I am feeding http://rss.weather.com.au/vic/melbourne to twitter account mel_weather . Last feed was on 1st May, but I have it set to every 24hrs. What am I doing wrong?
-
I think this is related to the link on each item in the feed being identical (http://www.weather.com.au/vic/melbourne/current). If you include the link in the twitter post, twitterfeed will check to see if that item has been posted before, and not post it again. The easy fix would be to uncheck the "include link" option for this feed - if the link is the same on every post, then it's not that useful anyway, and you'd be better off adding this to the twitter account. This also gives twitterfeed a few more characters to post.. -
Inappropriate?Mine isn't working at all now!
The feed i'm using is http://friendfeed.com/mattmelnick?for...
and my twitter user name is mmelnick
hope this helps. I like twitterfeed.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?matt, one problem I can see is that the friendfeed rss feed doesn't have unique links, so each flickr/twitter/etc.etc. post has the same URL, pointing to the service rather than to the individual item within that service (e.g. all updates to twitter have the link "http://twitter.com/mmelnick").
The way twitterfeed works is that it checks the item links for duplicates, if the item link is included in the post being sent to twitter. This would mean that in the case of the friendfeed feed, unless you post the items to twitter without the link, they won't go out if there are previous posts with that same link. If you turn off posting of links in the settings, then this will not be a problem.
If necessary I can take a look to get that changed on an optional basis (but the checking for duplicate links is actually a feature that had been requested often before, because it avoids posts being re-posted to twitter if only the publish date has changed).
But... I'm not really sure what you're actually trying to do - posting your friendfeed, which includes twitter updates, back to the same twitter account seems a little strange... wouldn't that create lots of duplication, and in the worst case some endless loops where posts get forever thrown between twitter->friendfeed->twitterfeed->back to twitter? -
Inappropriate? My Feed doesnt display on Twitter.
My feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/Langaria
and my twitter user is http://twitter.com/robsainz
Thanks for the feedback. -
Hi Rob - looking at the source of your feed, there are no items in it, so there's nothing for twitterfeed to post (or indeed anything for me to test). -
Inappropriate?I am having the same problem. My feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/MsMichett...
It was working at first, but now is not. I am not sure about the other feed I have listed, but please can you check this one first? Thanks.
I’m confused
-
I just ran it manually, and it worked.. so it looks like this may have been a temporary glitch (it does happen occasionally - but not often - that the twitter API responds with "OK" when posting, but the actual tweet doesn't appear). Please let me know if you continue to see problems with this feed, and I'll take a closer look. -
Inappropriate?I set up my Twitter Feed a few hours ago and I have posted several things on http://channel.hexus.net since then but no sign of them on Twitter. Any ideas?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I'm also noticing a similar issue, trying to post this feed: http://www.guidespot.com/rss/fresh_gu... which worked the first couple of times but now has gone several hours without updating even though 2 items were posted to the feed. Any ideas?
I’m confused
-
This is related to the publish dates on the items in your feed. twitterfeed uses this to determine if an item is new - if you look at your feed, you will see items at the top of your feed with a publish date that is older than previously posted items, which means these won't be posted. Basically - if for some reason items are added to your feecd which have a publish date that is older than the last item that was posted to twitter, then twitterfeed won't post them, since it's these publish dates that is being used to determine whether a post is new or not. -
Inappropriate?the feed URLs are
http://feeds.feedburner.com/suniljoseph
http://feeds.feedburner.com/aybukhiawog
my twitter id is @suniljoseph
hope you will be able to sort it out fast. -
There was a problem which should now be fixed. Let me know if you continue to have issues. -
Yes, it is now being posted to twitter, but in the 2nd feed http://feeds.feedburner.com/aybukhiawog the post being pulled up is almost a year old. hopefully it will pull the right post henceforth. -
Inappropriate?I have the same problem. I'm using Yahoo pipes widget for Loved songs from my Last.fm (http://izone-en.blogspot.com/2008/02/... )
When I added the feed few day ago, I was told that the feed doesn't include timestamp (PubDate information) and there were a yellow triangle on the line with my feed.
So I've contacted author of the widget and he fix it - now there is green tick at this feed, but it is not still publishing posts to my twitter account.
My feed: http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.run...
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Tomek - looking at the source of your Y! Pipes feed URL, there's still no pubDate on the individual items. Each item needs this, or else twitterfeed has no idea whether items in the feed are now, and should therefore be posted to twitter.
-
Inappropriate?I see, there should be PubDate for each item and there is only PubDate for the whole feed.
I’m disappointed
-
Looking at your status, it's a 500 error from twitter.com, so almost certainly related to the current problems twitter.com themselves are having. Once their service is back up and running more reliably, posting should resume ok. -
Inappropriate?I hesitate to post this because of all the problems Twitter's been having recently (so it could well be their fault). But Twitterfeed was working for me until yesterday, when I tried to change the source URL for a feed. Basically, I added Yahoo! Pipes in between the source and Twitterfeed. Now, everything checks out on Twitterfeed (my Twitter credentials, the RSS URL, a green check next to the feed in my list) but nothing is actually being posted to the twitter account.
The twitter account is http://twitter.com/fb_kate (private... I can allow you if you need it for troubleshooting). The RSS feed from Yahoo! pipes is http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.run...
It seems to have the needed features you've mentioned above, like a recent PubDate and unique link for each item. Maybe you can tell what's wrong? Thanks.
I’m sure it will be resolved soon
-
As far as I can tell it just posted now, but I could see the issue a little earlier.. if you continue to have problems, please let me know. -
Inappropriate?I have similar problem. My feed (http://is.gd/qi4 - a Yahoo pipe) has updates but they are not showing up in twitter @rtboard .
The page http://twitterfeed.com/feed/ shows wrong time:
status ok - last post Wed Jun 04 15:27:42 +0000 2008
Actually, the newest item at the moment has pubDate:
Wed, 04 Jun 2008 12:27:20 GMT
And current time is (while I'm writing this post):
Wed, 04 Jun 2008 12:46:15 GMT
Therefore above page shows a time from the future.
I have checked:
1. Twitter username and password OK
2. Feed was parsed successfully
3. Status ok, feed is active
4. All feed items have unique links
5. Items have pubDate
6. Items are sorted by pubDate in descending (newest first) order.
7. The feed has newer items.
The problem is intermittent. At one time twitterfeed posts every 30 minutes, at another it stops posting for 12 hours or more. I can not reproduce which my actions trigger a recommencement of posts to twitter.
Maybe It is the problem with Yahoo pipe rss feed? It always works for me though.
I’m unsure
-
Inappropriate?paulsimon: looking at your feed, I can see pubDates that are a few hours in the future. The most recent appears to be: Wed, 04 Jun 2008 15:46:53 PDT
... which is quite a few hours ahead of now.
So I think the issue is with the pubDates in the feed - all twitterfeed does it take the dates as they are. If you stick your feed into feedvalidator you can see the references to "Implausible date", since they're in the future (http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?ur...) -
Hi, Mario! Thank you very much. It seems like Yahoo pipes treat dates differently in RSS format. My mistake, I've relied on correct dates shown by Yahoo pipes in editing mode. I've fixed the dates, but It does not solve initial problem. -
If twitterfeed posted an item in the future previously, and now you fixed the dates in the feed, then it won't post anything until it finds an item that is now newer than the previous "future" one. Could that explain the problem? -
No. These "future" dates could cause a one time delay only. I've noticed that http://twitterfeed.com/feed/list shows "+0000" for the last post, instead of "PDT" in my feed (which should be -0700). That is: /feed/list - "status ok - last post Thu Jun 05 08:43:52 +0000 2008", my feed - "<pubDate>Thu, 05 Jun 2008 08:43:52 PDT</pubDate>" -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the reply, Mario! This is a strange problem. Twitterfeed posted for me only a couple of times since I originally wrote, but many items were left out (and it's not that I reached my 5-item limit). There are big time gaps where no items are posted to the Twitter account, when items are shown in the Yahoo pipe.
I can't get feedvalidator.org to give me results at the moment, but http://validator.w3.org/feed and http://www.validome.org/rss-atom/vali... don't find any date problems (or anything major).
