Filter to remove text string from posts
I started using the notes feature of Google Reader, which is great, and lets me add comments to my shared items, and use it as a tumblelog. However, when these getforwarded to twitter they all get the prefix "Posted by [my name]"
It would be great to have a filter that could remove generic phrases like this from posts.

Inappropriate? There's currently no way for twitterfeed to edit the content of the feed items being posted. You may want to look into services like Yahoo! Pipes or similar who let you build your own custom feeds, which you could then pass to twitterfeed.

... and by "to do that" I mean remove the Twitter username prefix from a feed going into pipes from twitter. -
And thanks! -
Inappropriate?Final note: the "text" you see in italics in the Regex object is actually just a blank field. You are replacing your username, a colon (":") and extra spaces with nothing/a blank/making your username NOT be added to your Twitter post by the feed from Twitter that twitterfeed delivers.
You need to replace the word "Username" with your actual Twitter user name for this to work :) -
Inappropriate?Yup, almost every feed I have on twitterfeed is a yahoo pipe.
-
Why? Why do you use Yahoo Pipe feeds? -
Yeah, what DeepSpin said. -
Inappropriate? If you read the messages above you will see... To remove some text that is automatically added to each message by twitterfeed.
-
Inappropriate?Twitterfeed doesn't add any text to your messages...
-
Inappropriate? No you misunderstood by ambiguous syntax. I want twitter feed to automatically remove the text that was added automatically by Twitter or Google (for example).
Ok. You have an google automated search that produces a RSS feed that reads like this:
'Google search feed: Your first item text here.'
'Google search feed: Your second item text here.'
'Google search feed: Your third item text here.'
'Google search feed: Your forth item text here.'
So you want to remove the intro text that reads 'Google search feed:', that Google has automatically added, from each item.
So it reads
'Your first item text here.'
'Your second item text here.'
'Your third item text here.'
'Your forth item text here'
Geddit?
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Right, so you massage the feed with Yahoo! Pipes and it comes out the way you want.

Inappropriate?Yes. thanks so much, I understand Yahoo pipes. I would just love Twitterfeed to provide this service without going to a third party service.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?That might make it slower.
