How exactly does twitterfeed decide not to repost an item?
I've read the explanation at http://twitterfeed.wordpress.com/2007...
However I'm not sure whether I understand it well... if an RSS item changes its pubDate but its link stays the same, and I uncheck the “Include item link” option, does the item get reposted if it is still the 1st in the feed?
Is the GUID of an item ignored?
Thanks!

Inappropriate?Yes, for better or worse (worse, probably), the GUID is currently ignored.
You're pretty much correct in what you're describing above - basically, if you include the item link in the post, then twitterfeed will check if it has already posted the item with this link, even if the pubDate of this item is newer than the last previously posted item. I did this in response to a number of people reporting problems of duplicates/re-posting when for some reason the pubDates in the feed were updated.
If there is no link provided with the post (i.e. if you uncheck "include item link"), then twitterfeed doesn't check to see if that link has been posted already, and will re-post an existing post just as long as its pubDate is newer than the last previously posted item.
Hope that makes some sense... perhaps there's a new feature request somewhere in here, namely suppressing the checking of the item link and always posting updated items if the pubDate suggests it's a new post. -
Ok - I think this also means that if I republish my post (e.g. to include an update, change an option re comments etc.), then Twitterfeed doesn't repost the link?
If so, I would be happy with this, as I don't want to swamp my Twitter followers... Is this also the case if I amend a post from the past, say, six months ago (i.e. it doesn't get reposted by Twitterfeed)?
Many thanks for such a useful service. I notice you're also feeding BBC RSS through Twitter accounts... :-) -
Inappropriate?Ok. Thanks for clarifying.
In the settings, there might be a checkbox for “pubDate”, one for “guid” and one for “link”, and an item would be posted if and only if every checked option has changed (and in the case of “pubDate”, increased)...
Thanks!
