Problems with Yahoo! Pipes feeds
Over the last couple of days we've seen lots of "error 999" being returned from Yahoo! Pipes. From what I can tell something has happened to their whitelisting of twitterfeed IP addresses, because we see these errors on machines that have been whitelisted by Yahoo! in the past. In other words, feed fetching from our servers is being throttled by Yahoo! Pipes.
If you have a Pipes feed that currently says "we couldn't parse this feed", then the above is almost certainly the reason. I have notified our contacts at Yahoo! to tell them there seems to be a problem with the whitelist, but have yet to hear back. Apologies for the inconvenience this causes you.

Inappropriate? It looks like this is a general problem with Yahoo! Pipes at the moment, and doesn't only affect twitterfeed - this link suggests feedburner have the same problem as us: http://discuss.pipes.yahoo.com/Messag...
-
Inappropriate?Hi, hope you can resolve the problem together with Pipes quickly.
Are there any workarounds for this?
Thx
-
Usually the workaround would have been to send the feed via feedburner, but it looks like feedburner is having the exact same problem as we do, so they can't fetch Pipes feeds either... I've had some updates from Yahoo! just to say they are working on it, so hopefully there will be a resolution soon. -
Inappropriate?thanks for the update Mario
-
Inappropriate?Brilliant... thanks for the update
-
Inappropriate?Obviously SOMEthing is happening. See the post by Pipes employee Paul http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?... concerning Twitterfeed.
Hope it can be resolved soon. It's been a week already!! -
Yes, but it's not just new servers being affected, it also looks like all our existing previously whitelisted IP addresses are not whitelisted anymore. I am in contact with Paul about this. -
Inappropriate?Excellent job Mario! Thanks for the update.
This is, as we ll know, a pain in the a*se.. but hopefully it can be resolved soon.
Thanks again
Paul
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for the update. Any particular spot where we can poke the Pipes folks to prioritize this?
-
Inappropriate?Mario, copied from exchange with Paul:

Jeff: Re Pipes/Twitterfeed
We recently pushed out a new whitelist for the IP's Mario had provided.
Are you still seeing issues?
Thanks -Paul
Pipes Team
Paul, thanks so much for the update. Maybe Mario is pushing the changes but my feeds are not publishing at all yet. Will keep my fingers crossed and hope Mario is on it!
*****************
Mario, Please let us know via @twfeed if we need to do anything from our end to reactivate our feeds.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff -
Inappropriate?Maybe it's nothing.... maybe it's something... but I noticed in ALL my Twitter accounts that I feed through Twitter that a "UTM Tag" area had appeared in the "Advanced Settings".... and automatically filled in for the "Source" was "twitterfeed" and for the "Medium" was "twitter"... - so I DELETED both of those. (I believe it's just to do with Google Analytics?)
Well, I'm still waiting for the Pipes ones to come through... but some of the Google Alert feeds which WERE'NT coming through - are now coming through! :O)
Coincidence or something else altogether?
Paul
I’m undecided
-
Inappropriate?I hadn't noticed that problem Paul, but some of my updates are starting to trickle through, albeit very sporadically.
-
-
Inappropriate?I keep getting a bunch of updates coming through at once which is annoying. Twitterfeed still says the feed can't be parsed, but there are obviously moment where it does work.
-
Oddly enough Adam - I had the same experience with my Pipes Feeds when I transferred them to RSS2Twitter - http://getsatisfaction.com/rss2twitte... - so I've removed all my Pipe feeds from Twitterfeed and RSS2Twitter for now.
I'm no tecchie..... but I wish there were some around to resolve this.
Paul -
Inappropriate?I think there are still a few IPs missing in the pipes database, i keep getting a few updates, so must be from a server on the whitelist, but the rest of them are still getting blocked. Looking forward to getting it all back up and running again!
-
Inappropriate?Just created a new feed on twitterfeed and all seams to be working now with pipes, try adding the feed again.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Ah ha! Is there a quicker way of "publish this feed now" in Twitterfeed - or do I have to wait the required lowest 30 minute minimum before I see if this works?
-
Inappropriate?Have to wait, mine seams to be online one time then offline the next, seams some of the IPs are still not being whitelisted.
-
Inappropriate?Gosherooni! :O)
It worked for a test "1 post for 30 minutes" - I guess I'll "power it up" for the regular consumption of Pipe feeds!
I’m extremely satisfied... so far...
-
Inappropriate?Still poor-to-zero performance. Is Andrew Cohen talking with somebody reasonably high up at Yahoo to get this resolved? Has anybody actually prioritized this fix through the bit.ly & Yahoo support chain? If so, then what's the timeframe to resolution? Or, to reveal my real worries here, can bit.ly be trusted to effectively resource Twitterfeed?
I’m frustrated and almost fed up
-
Inappropriate?I got excited on Friday when this problem seemed to finally be resolved, however performance the last two days has been abysmal.
Mario, can we please hear from you via @twfeed? I think it's reasonable that we be given periodic updates.
I’m frustrated, and becoming angry
-
Inappropriate?Sadly..... only my test Pipes fees worked from the other day.
None of my other Pipes feeds, (or then original test one), has feed through to my Twitter accounts.
Any comment or news from anyone who knows what's happening please?
Paul
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Sadly we're still seeing the problem - so as far as I can tell the situation is no better now than a few days ago. I have been in touch with Yahoo! a number of times over the last few days, and they have all the information they need, and are saying they are working on it... I'll see if I can get this escalated today somehow.
Apologies for these continued issues, unfortunately other than keeping on Yahoo!'s back there's little we can do to fix this. -
Inappropriate?Thanks Mario.
I guess there's not much to do except wait. It's a shame Yahoo aren't a bit more pro-active with their Customer Service issues.
Ah well....
I’m indifferent to my ambivalence
-
Inappropriate? What news from "The Front" Mario?
I'm seeing some Pipe feeds coming through - but the bulk of them are not? The situation hasn't really changed in the last day or so.
Paul
I’m indifferent
-
No news not being good news in this instance - you're right, we're still seeing the problem, and are still pursuing the issue on a couple of levels.. -
Inappropriate?I've got these problems as well, so I'm glad you guys are already on it. Keep it up.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Mario, can you tell me if you're still having trouble with Pipes? I'm having trouble getting twitterfeed to update my ping.fm account on a regular basis.
feed is pushed through pipes to:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/onitdigit... -
Inappropriate?Marc - hi.
I'm guessing there still is an issue with Pipes - as I'm having very strange results. Some Twitter accounts are getting the Pipes feeds though on Twitterfeed.... and some aren't.
Most peculiar.... -
I'm getting updates... just not all of them. Only about 3 - 4 updates per day when there are literally a dozen or more. -
Inappropriate?I haven't had an official update from Yahoo! yet, but looking at our own data it looks like the majority of feeds seem to get through. I'll try and find out more from Yahoo! and will update here.
-
Inappropriate? Thanks very much Mario. I'm seeing the same thing, but a majority is not a substitution for all the feed items. I know that this is primarily (or wholly) a Pipes issue, why no comments from them??
