Twitterfeed double poss RSS entries on twitter?

Hi all, I think I can see 2 issues:

- some of the more recently added feeds were part of some processes that didn't finish within the 30 minutes, so there was the possibility that the same post was sent more than once by mistake. Apologies for this, I've now tried to work around this at least in the medium term (really need more resources in the longer term, but that's a different point..). If you continue to see this behaviour over the next few days please let me know.

- oustcat's problem is different: the feed you're posting to twitter is your twitter timeline itself! So of course every time twitterfeed sends a post to twitter, there's a new item in your timeline which it will pick up and post again next time. I suspect there's some mistake when you set up the feed, as I can't see why you would want to post your twitter timeline RSS feed to twitter...

Dan: you could post the timeline with friends of "user A" to twitter account "user B", and then follow "user B", which should give you all the tweets of user A and the people user A follows.
However, by definition you can't post the timeline with friends of "user A" to twitter account "user A" without causing a never-ending loop.

I think this should work, the main thing is not to post back to the same account.
As an aside, you may also want to look at perhaps using the "with friends" feed instead of just your own timeline - that way you may be able to post your posts and the post of people you follow at the same time in one RSS feed.

gwolinetz: could you let me know the twitter id you're posting to, and I'll take a closer look.

gwolinetz: it seems you were trying to update twitter with your facebook status updates through twitterfeed, and at the same time updating facebook status with your twitter posts. is that right? If so, it's only logical that there will be a never-ending loop, as the same status message will just keep being bounced from one service to the other and back again.
I think you just need to decide if you want to update twitter with your facebook status, or facebook with your twitter status, but not both..

Howard, I can't see anything odd with this, so it should work as expected. If you do get duplicate tweets when you re-enable it, please let me know.

msahmed: I'll need some more info to be able to help. what's the twitter account you're posting to?

Hi, I've taken a look, but can't seem to see a reason for this. One thing I noticed is that twurl.nl creates a new short URL every time it's called with the same URL to shorten, so the check that is in place at twitterfeed (it compares the short URL to previous ones in your account) won't work with twurl (tinyurl appears to create the same shortened URL if called multiple times with the same URL, so it works in these cases).
However, this doesn't explain why the items were posted more than once, since the publish date should handle that (the above check would only be useful if for some reason items are re-published to a feed, with updated publish dates, and we want to avoid posting them again). I manually tried to replicate the double post, but can't seem to get it to do it. Could you see if this happens consistently, or was a one-off issue (if you like, post to a different account if you want to avoid the risk of double posts to your main twitter account)? If it happens again the next time you post, let me know and I'll try to dig a bit deeper.
