Twitterfeed to Identi.ca
It would be great to have a version of Twitterfeed that can post to Identi.ca, too: more of a microbloggingfeed than just Twitterfeed.
I love being able to have a link to my blog posts cross-posted to Twitter, but I still need to enter them manually on Identi.ca. Eventually, when the microblogging services start to adhere to the open standards, we could all be using different platforms, and need to have tools like Twitterfeed that can update more than one platform.

OK, I've listened.... when you create a new feed in twitterfeed, or edit an existing one, you now have a choice to select "laconica" instead of twitter. If you feel brave, please test it and let me know how it works - at the moment I have only tried it with the identi.ca server, so posting to other laconica installations may not work yet (I will try and upgrade my own laconica installation to test, but at the moment it's not working yet with the latest laconica code...).

Inappropriate?Yes, I've been thinking about this, since I've been playing around with identi.ca and laconi.ca myself. The ideal solution wouldn't be just to be able to post to identi.ca, but rather to be able to post to any laconi.ca installation (as a large part of the appeal of laconi.ca lies in the decentralised architecture, at least for me...).
I'm not sure how close we are to this aim in terms of a laconi.ca post API, but will keep a close eye on it. -
Inappropriate?Exactly, I didn't mean identi.ca specifically, but really anything laconi.ca-based. I'll keep watching to see what evolves!
-
Inappropriate?Ping.FM is probably your best bet for posting to multiple services right now. (not to steal Twitterfeed's thunder, they serve different purposes)
-
Inappropriate?I already use ping.fm to post to multiple services simultaneously. I'm looking for something that will do what twitterfeed does, but for identi.ca: in other words, every time I write a blog post, it turns the subject and tinyurl into a tweet without my intervention.
-
I think he is saying Twitterfeed could start posting to a ping.fm account as the alternative to posting to each service individually. -
Inappropriate?Identi.ca has a Twitter-compatible API now, so this should be easily doable. Or maybe we just need PingFeed, and let ping update our service(s) from the feed...
I’m hopeful

Consider also the ability to use identi.ca's implementation of the twitter api? or is that what you're using? I'm thinking their implementation of the twitter api might be easier (for now) if you're concerned -
Yes, I am using the twitter-compatible API, at least for the time being. -
Inappropriate?Mario, you totally rock! I will test this (I'm using identi.ca) and let you know how it works.
Feedback so far: in my list of Twitterfeeds, the left column always points to my Twitter address, even for feeds set up for identi.ca -- I have to actually edit the feed to figure out which is for Twitter and which is for identi.ca.
I’m ecstatic
-
Inappropriate?Okay, working for me. It picked up both of my blog feeds and send the message and link to identi.ca. Thanks!
-
Cool, thanks for testing! I noticed there's currently at least one local laconi.ca install being posted to from twitterfeed, which also seems to work fine, so that's promising! -
Inappropriate?Wonderful! It feels great to have a request fulfilled. Now maybe we could add ur1.ca to the list of URL shortening services provided? OK, I'm just being greedy... Very happy to have my blog feed auto-posted to Identica in any form.
I’m thankful!
-
Inappropriate? Thanks wolfger! Re. the URL shorteners, there's been a proliferation of these in the wake of twitter's success, so I'll try and round up the most obvious ones (e.g. ones requested here) with APIs and add at least some of them in a future update. Things can take a little longer than expected to implement here, due to twitterfeed being a "spare time" project of mine..
-
Actually, the reason he mentioned ur1.ca is because that is the official shortener of identi.ca and laconi.ca. Every URL is CC-licensed (somehow) and the database is downloadable.
