Two twitters I'm following not updating in my timeline

Two of the twitters I am following repeatedly stop updating. When I check their homepages I can see they have several new updates that are not listed on my feed, often from hours earlier. I have to stop following them, then add them again to receive all messages. Any ideas what is causing this?
