further update on twitter API issues

Edited on 08/07/09
This is an update on a previous company update describing in some detail the problems caused by the twitter API issues since yesterday. If you haven't read it already, please read it first: http://getsatisfaction.com/twitterfee...

In the meantime twitter have posted an update on the developers mailing list - you can see the post here: http://groups.google.com/group/twitte...

As far as twitterfeed is concerned, the only point of relevance is twitter's suggestion that applications throttle back their requests. While I'm not convinced this will make a difference given twitterfeed's size, I have changed our feed processing to check for new items at most every 2 hours, regardless of the actual feed settings.

As no posts are going through at the moment anyway there's nothing to lose, and with a bit of luck, depending on how twitter's response to the DDoS actually works, it may make a positive difference, although I really can't promise anything at all.
