No tracking with XP & Firefox 3.5.3
Just signed up last night and a quick testing with iTunes (on mac) worked perfectly.
However, today after installing the Twones addon to my XP laptop's Firefox 3.5.3 I haven't been able to get any songs played via itunes, Grooveshark or Finetune to register on Twones (the addon just says 'Now Playing: idle').
The Twones icon shows up on the Firefox bar but not on the system tray.
Edit 2: results of further testing:
- Services that work with Twones: muxtape, blip.fm, songza (only imeem stuff, not youtube), skreemr, hypem, myspace, ilike, pitchforkTV, pay.it, winamp
- Services that don't work with Twones: lastfm, itunes, finetune, grooveshark, youtube

Inappropriate?Hey Igufi, first of all thanks for your extensive testing.
I myself use FF 3.5.3 and XP.
First you have to know Twones only registers tracked songs you play for more than 50 seconds. This to make sure you've actually listened to the song and not just skipped through it. (Are you sure you have our latest tracker installed?)
Youtube seemingly works fine, but Twones only tracks songs labeled or categorized as "music".
Last.fm and Finetune i both can't test, because they limit plays to 30 seconds, but they seem to be tracked.
Grooveshark doesn't work at the moment. We know this and are working on it.
Keeping track of all the services in one of the things that costs us a lot of capacity at the moment. It's the heart of Twones' function, but at the same time very labour intensive, because as soon as some service makes an API change, we lose compatibility.
The Twones icon is only supposed to show up in the top right in your bookmarks toolbar.
Hope this answers your question sufficiently.

Inappropriate?Same problem here, except I'm also not seeing any tracking on Blip.fm, or Lala.com either.

Inappropriate?I'm running Windows XP service pack 3 and Firefox 3.5.3. I have successfully tracked songs played in iTunes, YouTube, Windows Media Player, LastFM, and MySpace.
It seems there must be an additional issue in your environment that is affecting this, because this configuration works for me.
If I have any ideas, I'll post again. -
Inappropriate?Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; ru; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
And I get this:
I’m sad

Ok. I've just reinstalled the addon and it seems to be working now. -
Inappropriate?Did you have 3.5.3 installed prior to installing the Twones plug-in? If so, maybe the plug-in needs to be updated for Firefox 3.5.3?
I already had FF 3.5.3 installed before installing the Twones plug-in and have had no issues.
If you have the plug-in installed and are receiving that message when trying to use it, my first suggestion is to try updating that plug-in. If that fails, try uninstalling it and then installing it fresh from the Twones downloads page.
If that error is occurring when you attempt to install the plug-in from the Twones downloads page, then I'm stumped for the moment. -
Yep. I've reinstalled it again and it works now :) -
Inappropriate?That's great!
And I made a mistake wording my previous post. My thought was that if you upgraded Firefox after installing the Twones plug-in, then the plug-in might need an update or reinstall. My first two sentences didn't accurately express that thought. Not even caffeine yet today. LOL -
Inappropriate? After uninstalling and reinstalling the Firefox extension and doing some more testing, I find it's working with Blip.fm, Hypemachine, Last.fm, and Skreemr, as well as sporadically with Grooveshark. No luck so far with Lala.com or with Windows Media Player. That's all I've tried so far.

Note that for Windows Media tracking you need the IE tracker installed and IE running.. -
Ah ... now that is highly useful information. If that's on the site somewhere, I totally missed it. -
Inappropriate?i'm experiencing the same probelm with a fresh installation of firefox 3.5.3 on a fresh installation of windows 7 x64
-
Inappropriate?Try installing the plugin in IE. Then run IE and Firefox 3.5.3 at the same time. They both tracked for me in Windows XP while running simultaneously. Subsequently, Firefox tracks by itself without running IE

Inappropriate?@samolang: sorry to inform you that at the moment Windows 7 is not yet supported by Twones
-
it started working on windows 7 for me :)
