How can you tell which flights feature Economy Plus seating?
I got situated in the tiniest seat imaginable from CHI to Newark. But as I made the flight back, I noticed that everything was much roomier. Is there any reason why they can't offer the same size seats on every 7 series aircraft? It shouldn't be luck of the draw every time you ride with them.
How can I tell which seating arrangements are going to be featured on my flight?

Inappropriate?The best way I've ever found for checking out planes before a flight, on United or any other airline, is SeatGuru.com. They show you (from the site):
* Detailed seat map graphics.
* In-depth seat specific comments denoting seats with limited recline, reduced legroom, mis-aligned windows.
* Color-coding to help identify superior and substandard seats.
* In-seat power port locations.
* Galley, lavatory, Exit Row and closet locations.
Sometimes I use them to help me figure out which flight to choose between! Here's the section on United planes.

Inappropriate?Hm. I thought *all* United flights had this on some of the rows (at the front of the economy section). Are you sure your flight didn't have any? (It's 5 extra inches btw, so yeah it's a big improvement, especially for those of us who like working on laptops during flight.)
Whether you actually get seated in one of those rows depends on a number of factors, like your class of ticket, if you're a "Economy Plus Access" member, what your frequent flier status is, how full the flight is, yada yada. -
Inappropriate?Just realized...I was sitting way in the back and we booked late.
Those seats are tight though. Especially when somebody reclines and puts their head in your lap. -
Inappropriate?I'll second the vote on seatguru.com. Very useful. Also, being extra-nice to the gate agent often gets me a better seat.

Inappropriate?I flew United this past weekend and I was able to upgrade to Economy Plus both ways but I had to do this either online within a few hours of my flight or at the kiosk and pay an additional $14. But I will have to say the $14 was well worth it. 5 inches of extra legroom feels sooo much better.
