why does usaa not extend, its philosophy on how people should be treated, to applicants for jobs?

I have always maintained wherever I work that anyone could be a customer; employees, applicants for jobs, etc., and that all people should be respected. Recent experience with USAA has been one that is impersonal.

There has been no respect for my efforts and my time (money and gas, as well) during the hiring process. Simple attempts to retrieve some answers to questions and get guidance during this process seems to be greeted, in general, with an aloof response, despite passing all requirements, and speaking on my behalf in search of help seems to have hastened my alienation from the process.

Yet, I did nothing wrong! Do they want automatons, or slaves working there; who do not have brains? Do they avoid people with self-respect, who stand up for their rights to be treated respectfully and equally, viewing these attributes as too rebellious a nature to work in their perfect little company?

I have tried to quietly locate someone in HR, with whom I could speak on the phone; thereby avoiding a complaint letter to corporate, which no doubt would mean the end of any chance of working there for some Lord knows reason...
