FIOS does not work if you have samsung TV and use HDMI cable
Verizon FIOS TV's motorola DVR does not work right with Samsung TVs if you are using HDMI cable. Every two days you have to unplug and replug in the power to the box. I called the customer service but was told rudely by the service rep that it is what it is and there is nothing they can do about it. They want me to use component cable instead of HDMI. Besides if i cancel it, i will have to pay 179$ cancellation fee. Stay away from FIOS TV if you can.

Inappropriate? The Fios tech hooked up moto stb to my 37" samsung LCD the HDMI ports on the TV stopped working. Samsung replaced board and updated firmware. Everything was OK for a month but all of a sudden the stb box won't show on the TV throguh HDMI. I switched to component, have a picture but no sound? Fios salesman never told me that their service didn't work with my samsung LCDTV. Fios is trying to ignor the problem. Beware- Fios will ruin your Samsung LCDTV, stay far away!!!

This is exactly what has happened to me! Was using FiOS and 32" Samsung no problem for months, then suddenly get locked out. Now no HDMI signals work on my TV! Terrible. -
Verizon now admits there is a problem with samsung HDMI and claims to release an automatic update to stb that will fix the problem. Verizon also claims only option is to use component until fix is released. I was able to update firmware on my samsung TV and HDMI works again which is where my DVD player is hooked up to. Why didn't Verizon tell me this when I bought Fios, Saleman didn't care? installer tech not trained properly and didn't even how problem exsisted???? Poorly run company! -
Inappropriate?I just found this Verizon Support Forum a few minutes ago. I have been waiting for FIOS to be available to me for two years. The lines are in my back yard, while Verizon and Pottstown, PA borough managers fight over terms. Apparently neither gives a crap, because they have been locked on this for over a year. Now I don't know if I want FIOS or not! Why don't I see any responses from Verizon in any of the threads in this forum?
I just bought a new Samsung LN46B650 LCD TV. I sure don't plan on letting some piece of crap hardware from Verizon or anyone else wreck my new TV. What do you say about this problem Verizon? Tell me here, directly.
The more I read in this forum, the less likely I am to order FIOS when I finally can. Response? Do you care?

I continue to be very frustrated and disappointed with such a large corporation like Verizon! I would definitely reconsider before getting FIOS for your Samsung TV - I would recommend Comcast if available. If you decide to get Verizon FIOS - Please make sure that you have something in writing to guarantee they will be responsible for any damage to your TV - I wish I would have seen and read these comments before getting this cable service. -

I talked to Verizon about my local lack of availability...yes, still not available 6 months after my last post! They told me the engineering department, who would know about the exact situation in Pottstown, would call me back the next day. That was a week ago. I thought some of you here would be interested to know how to even get to this level of communication with Verizon. Your results may vary from mine. It is difficult to even find your way past the front line Verizon reps, so this number may save someone some time. Call:1-800-483-7988, and choose option "3". This gets you as close to the top as I'm aware you can get with one phone number. It is primarily used to file complaints with Verizon, but they will listen to your "story" too, if filing an actual complaint is not what you really want. It's the kind of access everyone should have the first time they call any Verizon number, but it's not. -
Inappropriate?I'm frustrated that Verizon doesn't even care enough to monitor and resond to their own damn forum!
I see you are three times more frustrated than you thought you were btw. ;-)
You posted the same thing three times in a row (by accident I'm sure). -
Inappropriate?Just found this problem out for my Samsung LCD TV. Wow, this sucks.... Will be calling Verizon tomorrow.

Inappropriate?Recent Comcast -> VZ-FIOS convert. Yep - same thing. I've got a LN52A850. Yep - this still exists - even now that the calendar is nearing 2010. VZ - PLEASE - fix this already.
