Ordering FiOS? Good Luck
Verizon's site is easily the worst website I've ever navigated.
You'd think a phone company might put their phone number where it can be seen and used. I wanted to order FiOS Internet and TV but the online ordering kept returning me to the beginning step.
And the button next to the Contact Us phone option doesn't work.
Unbelievably bad.
I was going to switch from Comcast because I thought their customer service was bad...but they're better than Verizon.

Inappropriate?You're better off with Comcast. We bundled our service in Feb. with a free TV as promotional incentive. Bill still not bundled and no free TV. We have spent hours on the phone and each time been guaranteed that everything is okay. New bill yesterday and still a mess. It's like no one listens!

Inappropriate?I had an install date confirmed. They didn't show up. Turns out, because I have a fraud alert so they had to verify my identity. They did that and confirmed an install date. Guess what?! They didn't show up. What a shocker. I called back, and after speaking to someone in India, the Philippines, and possibly a few other countries, I got to a person who apologized and gave me a new date.
I spent 4 hours waiting at my house yesterday for the installer to show up. After 5 hours, he didn't show up and I went through customer service hell again on the phone. When I finally got to a human, they told me that no one was going to show up because I was on credit hold (what? didn't I deal with that already). I couldn't be on credit hold because I was sent a confirmation email saying I was all set. But of course, no one showed up.
After 2 hours on the phone today, I was told that I wasn't on credit hold and that there was no reason why no one showed up yesterday. I was then told that I can have an installer 11 days from now! Or, if I wanted to switch to Verizon business account, I could get a sooner install.
This company is worthless. They don't care because they have a virtual monopoly in the area. I doubt anyone will ever show up and I'm considering Time Warner.

Inappropriate?It's pathetic to think that Verizon's customer service could be any worse than Comcast's. Are all media corporations in a race to see who can piss off the most people fastest?
My problem: Verizon floods my mailbox with flyers advertising a "triple play" package of TV, phone, and internet. I have no desire whatsoever for a land line in my home, but i would be VERY interested to replace Comcast internet and perhaps order a few channels of decent television, if that exists anymore. Long story short: Verizon hasn't figured out a way to offer a reasonably priced Internet/TV service. FIOS prices are within Comcast's by pennies, their TV channels are likewise bundled in a manner that makes decent programming for less than $100/month impossible, and Verizon doesn't guarantee high internet speeds any more than Comcast does, AND one can't use legacy equipment (routers, digital recorders, etc) with it. And to top it all off, Verizon's customer service has a horrid reputation -- not that the representatives are rude, they just don't help at all.
Tell me Verizon -- WHY SHOULD I SWITCH TO YOU IF YOU OFFER NO INCREASED VALUE???

I was going to switch from Comcast (TV & Internet) to Verizon (TV & Internet) as Comcast has been totally crappy about the so-called "NO PROBLEM" switch from analog to digital. So tonight I was on line with a Verizon rep trying to get a price for only TV and Internet service. (NO PHONE). Like you said...just try to get a price for what you want. They push all the "EXTREME HD crap when I just want some good basic TV and Internet service. Don't these companies know the basics about giving the customer what the customer wants? Now I have to research the Dish and Direct providers. Hope they aren't as stupid as Comcast and Verizon!
