Slider phone- screen scratches!

I have a verizon chocolate, and verizon didn't give me any sort of little sleeve or anything for it like I know they do with other models. Now, I've run into the problem that dozens of scratches litter the screen of my phone, just from it being dropped or putting it in a bag and something in there has an edge. It's getting to the point where it reduces the screen visibility by quite a bit. Does anyone know something I can use to buff the scratches out without further damaging the screen???
