Is Vidoop gone out of business?
According to this article in The Portlander Vidoop may be going out of business, maybe we shouldn't expect to get any of our support queries resolved and start looking for a new OpenID and Password storage provider. The certainly haven't addressed the problem of the out of date Firefox extension after numerous support requests by email, Twitter and here.

Inappropriate? The inside story from a former Vidoop employee explains "The Fall of Vidoop"
I’m sad news
-
Inappropriate? There seems to be no way to export our stored passwords and OpenID connections from myVidoop: http://gsfn.us/t/zro
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Vidoop isn't out of business just yet. While it is true that we ran out of money in May, there are still a small, dedicated core of employees working as voluteers to restructure and recapitalize the company. We expect to know much more about this by the end July. We'll keep everyone posted on the Vidoop blog (http://blog.vidoop.com).
I’m hopeful

While I welcome some sort of statement from an employee of the company, it does not fill me with confidence. I have now read several of these half informative statements coming from the company and this is the first time you have come out and answered any concerns from your users. I personally emailed you several times and send you @ messages to your Twitter account and got no reply. At this stage I want to look for another OpenID and password storage provider, I will likely choose Verisign, and what I would be more interested to see coming from Vidoop now is a tool to help us users export our password data.
It is a very sad state of affairs for your company but reading Chris Messina's open and informative post about the direction in which the company was led and its eventual demise is so disappointing. To see the talent of the great team of developers you had and the great products you had lost to what appears to have been poor management and a lack of focused attention. Ultimately leaving your users in the dark is only going to drive them away and half statements like those that have been made just seem hollow and do not instil confidence.
If you do succeed in rescuing Vidoop and its products, (I would have loved to have seen VidoopConnect take off) then great because you have a great product, but you need new management to bring some great developers back. I don't hold out any hope though and for now you need to act responsibly to your users. -
Inappropriate? The situation with MyVidoop is really sad when you consider the usefulness of the web site and plugin. I would hope that they could partner with someone that can bring such a powerful web tool back to life (and free!).
I’m undecided
-
I agree, if they do intend on pumping some life back into Vidoop and keep myVidoop alive then the very least they could do is push out an update to the Firefox plugin that powers myVidoop, at this stage myVidoop is not much use to me because the plugin no longer works in Firefox.
But if the company does die completely then we need to be concerned about our data and how it will be treated, what assurances will we have, there is no assurances in their Terms and Conditions. -
Inappropriate?OK I have written before and We all have the same situation. I still can use vidoop in my laptop, and old desktop since I have not updated firefoxin these computers.
This is a good and powerful program, better than som other I have been trying.. Last pass is similar, yet not as effective but fair.
We would like to know, since I know the program is still operative, if you could please reach us and let us know of the handling of our information. Though mine has no security info, yet it has all my blog info. Please, let us know. -
Inappropriate? So Scott Blomquist, employee of Vidoop has told us on his reply above to my concerns about the company and our data, that he will be notifying us of future developments about the company on the company blog (blog.vidoop.com), except that now the company blog is gone too, go visit it, you will just get redirected to the Vidoop.com home page. Communication from the company is getting better, hey.
And still no word on efforts to allow us to export our data from Vidoop and what Vidoop will do with out data. I don't expect we will get any word either.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? The blog is down, but we're still here. As I have repeatedly promised, you'll get 30 days notice if you need to worry about exporting your data. We're all (all 3 of us) frantically busy trying to keep the company in business, and so when we have IT problems, such as with the blog right now, they don't always get fixed right away. The blog problem is not a sign that myVidoop is failing--it is housed in a completely different data center.
We'll try to get the blog back up so folks don't get the wrong idea...
I’m staying calm

Inappropriate? Thanks for your reply. Your program is a very good one and I hate to loose it. I am managing. Just let us know when you are ready to oparate like before, or let us know whn tpo retireve or migrate our info with you. I have tried others and your service is as good and sometimes better as some others similar . Thank you and good luck and keep us posted.

Inappropriate?Bummer to hear about the state of things, hope it works out. In the meantime, I'm trying to kill my vidoop account becuase it's twittering like crazy to my twitterfeed account. I deleted my vidoop account but the tweets keep coming. Are you guys short staffed to kill things like that, or did I miss something?
-
Inappropriate?Plimmin - myVidoop is not twitterfeed. Twitterfeed allows you to log in using your myVidoop OpenID, but it is your twitterfeed account that is twittering like crazy. You need to turn it off at http://twitterfeed.com, which may be difficult because you killed your vidoop account (maybe you have a twitterfeed username and password set up too?). A twitterfeed employee might be able to help, but we can't.
Best of luck,
Former Vidoop Employee
I’m sorry that myVidoop/twitterfeed relationship is confusing
-
Inappropriate?Yeah I know, but back in the early days, Twitterfeed required you to use an openID platform to set up your account. I used Vidoop. I spoke to them about it and they said all I had to do was delete the OpenID account that I had formerly used - so I did, and it still seems to live on. Hence the problem.
-
Inappropriate? There is now another serious problem on myVidoop. It is not sending out Activation codes to activate a browser. This effectively locks us out of myVidoop and all out password data. Detailed report here http://gsfn.us/t/df67
I’m lost
-
Inappropriate?Same problem here. The "Your code is being sent" message loops forever. Therefore, I'm not receiving the email. Therefore, I can't connect to twittereed through myvidoop. Therefore I can't delete the feed associated with that account and use the "mirror" I created through my google account.
Honestly, this sucks.
I’m in a therefore loop, and annoyed
-
Inappropriate?Looks like its all back up and running now.
