Can't connect to Vivaty due to network configuration
Can't connect to Vivaty. It is giving me an error message stating it can't access the vivaty servers and apparantly related to my network and firewall configuration.
I turned off my firewall, tried 1 wireless laptop and a lan connected pc. Put the PC in the DMZ and still no go.

Inappropriate? We use ports 80, 5222, and 15213. Are you getting the "D'oh" screen or another error from your computer?
We have the "D'oh" screen which is an indicator that port 80 is working but either port 5222 or 15213 is not working. (All ports are TCP)
The way we have asked people to absolutely make sure their network hardware is not playing a role in the problem is to go all the way to the cable modem or dsl modem and connect your ethernet cable to that (if you don't have gigabit eithernet on your laptop, you'll need a crossover cable). If that works, obviously an access point, router, etc is blocking the connection for some reason.
If it doesn't work we can continue to diagnose. Please let me know if you are comfortable working with telnet and such as that will help us with the diagnosis if you are still having problems.
Thanks,
Jon Prall

Inappropriate?Hey Josh are you connected directly to your modem or to a router first? If connected to a router you might want to check the manufacturer's manual on opening ports since all routers are different.
If you have a Linksys or Netgear router I may be able to walk you through the configuration.
