Inappropriate?hi simonhk, thanks for letting us know. What OS are you on? Windows XP or Vista? Can you try un-installing Vivaty Player and then going into Facebook again? Does the problem still occur? thanks
I’m stumped
-
Inappropriate?Vista,, Firefox 3.0.1
Uninstalled player, went back to Vivaty app page on FB.
Gave me the installation screen (no crashes)
Went ahead and reinstalled the player, went back there and ... same crash, every time
what now?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?hi simon,
Sorry for the delay- back now! Our engineers think it's a rendering issue. they are asking if you get the same error on IE. Would you mind trying that? (will help us eliminate a few things).
Can you also clear your cookies and disable other plugins you may have (We had 1 issue like this during our QA cycle - were you ever using plugins that emulate IE inside Firefox, for example?)
in the meantime, a dxdiag would also be helpful. do you know how to run one of those? On Vista, click the Start menu and type "dxdiag" in the "start search" window at bottom of the menu. Then save the file locally and send it to us at help@vivaty.com.
Thanks,
Heidi
I’m stumped but hoping to be unstumped soon

Inappropriate?Oops, I'm on IE8 and it says not supported ><
DxDiag I've listed the relevant stuff here...
Vista Home Premium 6.0 build 6000
HP Pavilion dv2700 Notebook
Intel core 2 duo CPU T7500 @ 2.2Ghzz
3GB RAM
DX10
Nvidia GeForece 8400 GS
Driver ver 7.15.0011.5665
Directdraw, Direct3d agp texture acceleration enabled
Hope that's enough to work on...
I’m gonna hunker down n wait

Inappropriate?Hi Simon,
Thanks for this. Did you try on IE7? we are v. curious to see how this works for you because it will help us eliminate a few things. Also, if you are willing to help us diagnose this, maybe you can try firefox 3 with your non-vivaty add-on extensions disabled?
If firefox 3 continues to fail, a full dxdiag will help us to debug.

Does this happen as soon as you enter a scene, not after being in there and addding objects for a while? Do you ever visit more than 1 scene before it crashes? What is your host ID? (this is the number that appears at the top of the page after host= in the URL string on Facebook). So we can look up what's going on on the back-end.
If easier, please contact me at help@vivaty.com to continue this conversation and i can post back the resolution once we find one.
thanks!
I’m hunkering down w/ you

Inappropriate? Also, your player version should be 0.8.6.878
can you check what version you have by clicking into Control Panel, Programs and Features and telling me the number that is listed after Vivaty Player?
-
Inappropriate? Also, your player version should be 0.8.6.878 -> yes, I confirmed it is
Downgrade to IE 7 -> tried before and failed, it's really hard to do!
Host ID -> 17829
I’m hoping this works out...
-
Inappropriate?thanks, simon,
I’m not sure if the latest version of IE 8 that you have but our developers said there is a "run as Ie 7" button and we worked OK when we click that button in IE8. (do you have that button?)
Our devs can get into 17829 without problems with FF3 so does not seem to be content-related.
we are launching a new version of the player monday so perhaps that will solve the problem. If you want to further diagnose before Monday, please send over your dxdiag to help@vivaty.com.
thanks for your patience.
I’m hoping it works out too
