Player creates disk activity and keeps claiming RAM

On my home PC (XP) the player creates a lot of disk activity (search?) and keeps claiming more and more RAM (killed it at 1.5GB) making my system unworkable. On my work PC (Vista) this does not happen. This is too bad 'cause this way I can't use it at home to develop X3D and have to use other players.
