Adding a cap loses any existing credit
If you top up your vodafone prepaid account with a new $29 or $49 cap, you will lose any existing credit. I believe this to be outrageous. I would urge any Vodafone customers to complain to:

Inappropriate?Onya Callum!
-
Indeed sir! :) Can't let them bear us down! -
Inappropriate? It's clearly stated in Vodafone's T&C section that FlexiCaps don't roll over....why complain about something that you obviously have failed to read that will make you look foolish...oops, too late...
-
Did you read Vodafone's T&C before you signed up? I certainly didn't.
Is a law just because you know it's a law? I don't think so. I support the likes of the Civil Rights movement in the United States. I support peaceful protest and civil disobedience in the interests of repairing broken laws.
The fact that Vodafone have written in small letters that they're going to screw you doesn't make it justifiable for them to then screw you. -
Oh Red, you're such a plonker. Callum didn't say he hadn't agreed to it, he said it wasn't the right thing to do to the customer. When my Vodafone ended and I wanted to port to another provider, the retention specialist I was transferred to offered me all sorts of inducements to stay, which I gladly accepted. Crazy that Voda's comfortable with screwing around the customers it has but pulls out all stops to retain them when they decide to leave. Might it be cheaper just to provide a good service with no hidden gotchas and remove the reasons to leave? -
Inappropriate? All I can say is get over it...why would you want to put another voucher on before your current one has finished anyway??
How is it the wrong thing to do to the customer when it is clearly stated in the T&C's???
They are there for a reason and if you don't read them, that's your problem...it doesn't matter how wrong or right it is, Vodafone have done everything they need to do to make sure you know what the deal is.
As for reading the T&C's before signing, I did read them which is why there are no surprises as to what my services provides for me. -
Red, I strongly disagree.
I'll respond to one point specifically "why would you want to put another voucher on before your current one has finished anyway??"
To me this answer is obvious. If I have a small balance remaining and I want to make a long call, I want to put the new credit onto the phone first, before making the call. Otherwise, in the middle of the call, when I'm disconnected, I need to add a new voucher. That's an inconvenience to me.
Another example is if I'm going to be overseas. I probably can't add vouchers while abroad, so I'd like to be able to put several vouchers on at the same time. -
If it's an inconvenience, why not switch to post pay? Then you never need to worry about running out of credit...
As for your second point, that has been shown as incorrect... -
Post pay is a completely different product.
My second point is absolutely correct. There are numerous reasons why a person might want to put more than a single voucher's worth of credit on their account. My point about long calls with a low balance stands. As for the point about roaming, buying and carrying vouchers overseas seems significantly more complicated and risky than simply applying them to the account in advance. -
Inappropriate?Hi Callum,
I'll see if our prepaid product manager has a specific response to the issue you've raised. Vodafone does offer the ability to rollover credit on our Talk&TXT plans, but for Cap plans we do not offer the rollover of credit. In many way this replicates the experience for our contract customers, where any unused inclusions in their cap are not rolled over from month to month.
If the rollover of credit is important to you now, then Three Prepaid Caps do offer rollover if you recharge within the 30 day expiry. You can find more information here: http://www.three.com.au/prepaid
Finally, in terms of going overseas, you can prepurchase vouchers here in Australia before travelling and then use them as required overseas. I would highly recommend that you look at registering a credit/debit card prior to travel or look at recharging with paypal. You can find more info on paypal recharge here: https://paypalrecharge.vodafone.com.au/ -
Thanks for the tip. It's a little late I'm afraid, I left Australia last year.
I'm pleased to see Vodafone on here though. I believe I created the first topic for Vodafone AU on getsatisfaction.
As a slight aside, are you sure you can add the top-ups while abroad? My experience has been that most shortcodes don't work abroad. I can't remember the vodafone topup procedure, if it involves texting or calling, it might not work abroad. If it does work abroad, it might cost an international call to apply the top up.
Just noticed your note about PayPal recharge, that would have been really useful while I was in Aus. -
Inappropriate?Hi Callum,
Yes 1511 (Recharge) and 1512 (Account Balance) both work for all prepaid roamers and are free of charge. You can view more information here:

If you do return to Australia, I hope you keep us top of mind and thanks for starting this forum!
Regards,
Jason
