03 VW jetta 1.8t manual acceleration issues and power loss
Just recently my 1.8t manual trans has had a severe loss of acceleration and power. It happened over the course of a week (not much at first) At first I thought it was simply due to the cold. It used to accelerate smoothly with the turbo kicking in as it should, but now if I push the gas down past a modest point the RPM jumps drastically but the car does not accelerate. Any ideas/thoughts what the issue might be?

Inappropriate?I am guessing that there is a hose that is loose somewhere. Or a clogged intake manifold. There is a turbo hose, right? I would check that one first.

Inappropriate?yeah, this sounds like a turbo related issue. the engine isn't receiving the boost when it gets into the turbo rpm range. i'll do some amateur googling and let you know if i find any threads about this. interesting issue.
