Ask before reporting a web application
I don't mind reporting the web applications, but I would like the tracker to ask me before sending it in. As it does not ask me, I do not report which web applications I use.

Inappropriate? This is also something we've thought about for a while. However, I personally don't like the idea of the Wakoopa tracker bothering me all the time, asking me if I want to share something. I'd rather just say: track everything, and filter things out later. You can do this here: http://wakoopa.com/account/privacy

Inappropriate? Then perhaps it shouldn't display a notice but simply have the icon change to indicate it has a question for you. Then you can just click a check box in a list it gives you.
-
Frankly I don't find icon changes visible enough, so it really wouldn't change much. I'd agree and say it's better to just filter things out later. -
I know the tracker icon is quite visible on the menu bar in Mac OS X when it is colored. -
Inappropriate?Hm, that's not a bad idea. Although we still believe the tracker should be something that just tracks without you getting bothered to much.
So just to be sure, your main objection to web apps is your privacy? -
Mainly privacy, yes. Filtering after the fact doesn't help much given that the data would be out "in the wild" at that point. -
Inappropriate? There's another possible problem in automatic reporting, and that's when you are using a private alpha or beta version of an application while still under NDA: in other words you are not allowed to even talk about it. There should be a way to filter these out before Wakoopa picks them up, only filtering them afterwards would be a breach of your agreement!
It's not a matter of privacy but of contractual obligations.
I’m worried about Wakoopa picking up really private software

Inappropriate?HI,
Well, in that case you better just disable the tracker when using said software. I do it all the time and never have a problem. But I'm young and still have good memory, as in remembering to disable tracker when need be.
But yeah I hear you. I wold be in huge trouble if that where to happen to me.
I think a better idea is something like this..
Instead of the tracker software itself asking you about certain web applications (or normal applications for that matter) that there be an option on the web site to mark all new applications as private (as in, your eyes only) by default.
Of course this option would be disabled by default. I know I know, then why make an option if no one uses it? How do you know until you put in out there? I think it is worth the effort in this case to do this, since it could be a huge benefit for users who care about their privacy (which should be everyone).
Of course a new section would need to be created on the site that displays a listing of new applications that need to be reviewed. It must be easily search-able and must be easy for the user to make an application either public, remain private, or remove said application all together.
At least that is how I envision something like this working. Any thoughts?
Take Care,
Will

I like this idea. For the UI it could be as simple as a radio button to set your default: () mark new apps public until I hide them; () mark new apps private until I release them -- and then for each app you'd need to be able to see their status (public or hidden) and a toggle to change that. How hard that would be to implement on the back end I have no idea, but I'd very much like to see it! -
Inappropriate? You can always pause the tracker. We put that option especially in there for developers or people like you who are under NDA. Just click the icon in your taskbar and click "Pause Tracking".
As for the button Will mentioned: there's something similar you could do. Just put your profile on private for a bit, and if you see anything on there you don't like, just go to your privacy settings and hide it.
It's a bit hard for us to devote time to such specific features, because most of our users are here to actively share their software. But it is pretty interesting to a certain group. I can totally imagine that.
