easily discover new interesting software
I've been just browsing another Wakoopa user's profile looking for interesting software. In the main user profile page I can see a tag cloud, which is helpful, but the tags are too general. In the "usage" page there is a full list of applications but I can see only their titles which does not really tell me what they are about. I must click them one by one which would take too much time.
What about:
(a) displaying the application-specific tags, next to each title on the list?
AND/ OR
(b) making an option "display detailed tag cloud" on the the main user profile page? In that cloud all application-specific tags would be displayed.

Inappropriate? That's a lot of good points, thanks. We're working on a little menu that would pop up every time you hover a software icon. This could tell you what kind of application it is through the category. There's also going to be a lot more specific categories since I agree, these are too general now.
Would this fix your problem you think? -
Inappropriate?Hovering wouldn't let me see the information for all products at once. I would have to hover the cursor over single icon whereas in a tag cloud I can see the information for all those icons with one glance.
By the way I've stumbled upon an interesting suggestion regarding tags and hierarchical categories. It was given for a wiki platform but it could be an interesting point for Wakoopa, too. Here it is: http://community.wikidot.com/forum/t-... [Forum » Wikidot features and bugs / New features and ideas » Hierarchial Tags]. -
Inappropriate?Hm, very interesting. I'll definitely take a look at this. Thanks for the link!
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Discover new interesting software is for me the most importante feature of wakoopa. Actually it's very limited.
The classification of the office 2.0 database is most efficient to discover new aps.
here : http://o20db.com/db/setup/
1) kind of software sorting by frequency
2) then Suggestion by kind of software
Thanx
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? It's probably our biggest focus, agreed. I think with the new Wakoopa design and alert feed, plus the recommendation engine, you've got a lot of tools at your disposal.

Inappropriate? We need something like StumbleUpon, but for wakoopa!!
-
Inappropriate? What are you talking about dude? :p Wakoopa is basically StumbleUpon for software.
I’m silly

Inappropriate?Hmm. I can tell there's something that should be added to this idea, but for the life of me, can't quite figure out *what* right now.
At the very least, I do agree the tag clouds on various applications can be quite uninformative.
@Robert: ("Wakoopa is basically StumbleUpon for software.")
...exactly why I'm here. ^_^
Just found out about Unlocker, thanks to Wakoopa, in fact. =]
Keep up the good work, guys.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I hope all the new stuff we've build was exactly what you where looking for!
-
Inappropriate?What I meant is..
There is no Wakoopa like StumbleUpon toolbar. That would be sweet. :D
Clicking 1 button to randomly check out new software within a selected category (tags) or whatever directly withing the browser without never having to open the web site.
I’m amused
