I would like to know what software I'm running right now.
Think of it like the xfire gaming/IM client where it tells your friends "so-and-so is now playing Half-Life 2", but for all software.
This information, if it's available, could be used to update a Facebook status, as part of an RSS feed, or even posted to Twitter to create a software usage timeline.

Inappropriate?Hi there, sorry for the late reply :-)
This would indeed be interesting! I will put this on our features-to-do list, thanks!

Inappropriate? You should definitely think about interaction with Facebook and Twitter!
I’m confident

Inappropriate? But if you add this function you shouldn't display all tools. For e.g. when I uninstall 30 programs noone is interested to see 30 updates on Twitter that tells my friend I'm using an uninstaller.

Installers and uninstallers are apparently blacklisted, although a few do make it through now and again. I'm more worried about other apps showing up, since it still seems that we can't proactively block apps from showing on our profiles, just retroactively. -
Inappropriate?I don't use Facebook yet, I'm still on MySpace, many people still use MySpace so integrate it into that as well! Great idea!
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Yeah I also want real-time usage on my profile.
-
Inappropriate? The problem with this is that the tracker (currently) only sends data in intervals of 15 minutes. This means that you'll have to be working on something for 15 minutes to get this "live push". We could also modify the tracker and let it send data faster if you're using something consequently for a specified time, but that would require some modifications.
If more people have feedback on this, we'd love to hear it.
I’m thankful

People should be able to choose between automatic updates and opt-in updates of the usage stream. By opt-in I mean manually "checking in" like they do at brightkite. -
Inappropriate?15 minutes should be fine for regular users, but us crazy lifesteamer types might want to be able to crank it to 5 minutes or as close to real-time as you'll let us. Perhaps adding a preference for setting the update interval, although as an advanced one, without any representation in the tracker's UI. (Hide the setting in the registry for Windows, or in whatever config files for Mac and Linux.)
I’m amused
