Problem with tracking applications when tracker is started from home directory (using Wakoopa Linux 0.1 tracker on Gentoo)
[Gentoo] Linux tracker 0.1 doesn't track anything other than "Wakoopa tracker" and "Fusion icon" (the both - only applications runned from my home directory). Iit's of course only a small part of all running programs.. It seems to behave like that for the third testing day for now..
There is debug info about running programs:
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/konsole --> [[0,0,379,0]]
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/kxkb --> [[0,0,379,0]]
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/kmix --> [[0,0,379,0]]
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/klipper --> [[0,0,379,0]]
/home/v-teq/.kde4.2/Autostart/fusion-icon --> [[0,0,379,0]]
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/korgac --> [[0,0,379,0]]
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/amarok --> [[0,0,379,0]]
/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox --> [[0,378,1,0]]
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/plasma --> [[0,0,379,0]]
/usr/bin/pidgin --> [[0,0,379,0]]
/home/v-teq/download/firefox/wakoopa_0.1_i686/wakoopa --> [[0,1,378,0]]
/usr/bin/emerald --> [[0,0,379,0]]
/usr/bin/vlc --> [[0,0,379,0]]
I should also test starting Wakoopa tracker from another directory and by another user, I'll provide info as soon as possible.

Inappropriate?Thanks Vojtech, we'll look into it and get back to you if we need more information!
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?You might want to try starting it with sudo. I found that helped to track some apps that otherwise weren't being tracked at all.
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?Vojtech, do you have any more information? Have you tried running the tracker with sudo privileges?
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I am now running Gentoo and do not see this issue. It still seems not to properly report xterm, but that is a known issue.

/usr/bin/mousepad --> [[0,11,0,0]]
/usr/lib64/python2.5/site-packages/eric4/eric4.py --> [[0,1,0,0]]
I’m still liking this smile the best

Inappropriate?I've tested the new version of wakoopa tracker (0.2.2) for Linux (i686) today.
The problem as I described above still persists.
I've tried to run wakoopa tracker as both user and root, but the result was the same.
From all applications running in my system (you can see the debug info below), only those from other directory than /usr/* are tracked into my account properly (at least it seems to behave like that).
v-teq@v-teq-laptop $ cd ~/bin/wakoopa_0.2.2_i686
v-teq@v-teq-laptop $ ./wakoopa & # running wakoopa tracker as user (v-teq)
v-teq@v-teq-laptop $ su
v-teq-laptop # ./wakoopa & # running wakoopa tracker as root
Debug info (the same while running tracker as user or root):
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/konsole --> [[0,17,326,0]]
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/kwin --> [[0,0,343,0]]
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/kxkb --> [[0,0,343,0]]
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/kmix --> [[0,0,343,0]]
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/amarok --> [[0,0,343,0]]
/usr/kde/4.2/bin/klipper --> [[0,0,343,0]]

*** Tracker activity: 2009-03-08: OK ***
The only applications that were tracked properly:
* Wakoopa tracker
* Fusion-icon
* Opera
