Software Cloud

Must say, I'd be quite amused to traverse a large version of this:

Where software is linked to other software by category.

Fullscreen. Zoomable. (So it isn't over crowded with all the smaller link lines and program dots.) 3D, even. Different colors. Dimmed and bolded link lines. Colored (or other forms of distinction) areas to separate categories. Dashed and dotted lines. Software icons as link hubs instead of names in dots. Categories as link hubs, with many softwares inside each hub when you zoom in.

In fact, not just linked by category; you could choose which linking factors are taken into account, one or many, such as *officially* determined type, popular category tags, popularity ranking, OS platform, RAM usage (if possible), age group of most users, gender of most users, users most similar to you in usage of other software, etc, etc, etc.

Bottom line; as humans, we process our information most efficiently, and with the most speed, visually. And with an idea similar to that at http://www.humanbraincloud.com/, the visual is also aligned with our progressive idea-to-idea thought pattern, making it even more intuitive, easy, and enjoyable to use.

A good software cloud with a multitude of options for visual configuration would work wonders for the site.

Not to mention being quite fun to interact with. ;]
