Rude service at walmart
I went to a walmart store out of town shopping and wanted to purchase a car cd player, when I ask they told me that I could not cause it was late. Well a store employee came up and told me he was a security officer/ store manager. I ask him his name and he told me John but would not give me his last name.So when I got home I called back and ask to speak to a manager or a asst when she came to the phone she said her name but would not give me her last name she told me that was none of my business. I feel that this was rude and un called for. It is service like this that everyone needs to be aware of. How does a company run when you have employees like this.

Inappropriate? This happened to me at walmart too. And the security person that came up to me was named John aswell. I was shopping and I paid for everything and he was following me. Afraid, I waved him out of the crowd because I thought I was being stalked or followed. He comes up and says You've been putting things in your pocket and taking them out, I've been watching you. Still scared this was some sort of plot, I refused to leave the store until the police officer came and verified everything. But while we were waiting for the police officer, this security guard would not let me even get out one sentence. And then when asked if I could see the footage in the back, I was refused. The police officer came, and even she said looking at the footage in the back would be uneccessary. After running background check she let me go. I had done nothign wrong, and had never been so humiliated in my entire life.

Have you considered contacting an attorney and possibly starting a lawsuit on the grounds of unlawful arrest or something of that nature? -
it's not an arrest if the customer was so afraid that she refused to leave the store until the police verified everything.. It's babysitting. Asking to see the footage? I'm definately NOT saying you were a shoplifter, and I believe that you were NOT/ARE not, however 80% of MY shoplifters ask to see the footage. best actions in this position. Stay put and await authorities to put the loss prevention in THEIR place.. If you ask to leave and they say no, it CAN be (but NOT always due to creativity) unlawful detainment depending on their methods.. -
Inappropriate?I'm sorry, but when I work anywhere, I have no reason to give anybody my last name. In this day and age, a customer could easily track someone down online with a last name, and it really is none of your business. While I agree they might have been a little rude, what business do you have asking for their last name? You may have had honest intentions (or not), but I'm not going to give an upset customer my last name, especially if I worked at Walmart.
I’m indifferent

I also would not give my last name - under any circumstances. They can know that I'm Mark, and that I work in this or that part of the company. I wouldn't give my last name. -
Even the schedules do not have last names. First names are what you get, and they don't have to be honest. -
Inappropriate?I agree with Conexion. And Wal-Mart's policy is no last names. (even the managers usually only see the first 3 initals of your last name after you are hired) It is for security reasons such as to keep irate customers from going to the DMV finding out your tag number and then slicing the tires on their car. You are not entitled to anything farther than a first name and a position that they work in. Also, Wal-Mart may be a 24 hour store, but certain departments (such as automotive where the car stereo is) are service based and only operate from around 7 am to 9 pm, after that the keys are locked up and no one is supposed to get them... that is how theft happens inside the store. If someone tells you they cannot do something it is because they do not have authorization to do so. So don't threaten them by calling a manager or something, the only thing they will do is either ask you to come back later or get the item for you then let you wait until you are ready to check out at the front of the store then make you stand around until they bring the item to you so you can pay for it. Unless it is an emergency you really are just better off waiting until the next day.
Sheilz- I am sorry that you had to go though something like that. I know that can be difficult. You should report it by calling 800-wal-mart.
I’m frustrated with people who think they are entitled to something.

Inappropriate?I'm a part-time Wal-mart cashier and a full-time college student in my late 20's. I HATE Wal-mart. I am lied to by my bosses, I have almost no benefits because I am only part-time, and even though the majority of the time I try to be friendly to customers, I am still treated rudely. No customer deserves to know my last name. If you don't like the service do not be a patron at the store. And no, The Customer is NOT always right.

Inappropriate?I worked at Wal-Mart in the photo lab the summer before I began college. I was never told that their policy is not to give last names. That was in 2002, so it may have changed. I would report the employee, with the area he worked, which store, time, and date. That is all absolutely inappropriate. May I also suggest you shop elsewhere? I can't stand Wal-Mart. My grandma works there currently and I feel they are a horrid company. My fiance and I have not shopped there for the past five years. And we don't miss it.
