Inappropriate?Happy to use witopia for about 1 month and then its happened!!!. Hulu is really blocking everything except LA. LA is super slow!!! because of that (I think) really congested.
My video is freezing every 5 seconds!.
I’m angry
-
Inappropriate?yep, now reports as an anonymizer, doesn't seem to work anymore :(
I'm using the PPTP service, so don't have a choice of servers anyway.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?please don't post here about this issue. contact our support.
-
Inappropriate? What difference does that make? This is a support site, backed by Witopia; you are a Witopia representative.
It seems to me that all the necessary ingredients are there.
I don't mean to be rude, would just like a statement from Witopia about this.
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate? This is not a witopia support site backed by witopia.
we just try to respond here because people keep posting here and we thought it would be rude not to. we didn't even set this up and there is no way to get rid of it.
we pride ourselves on support, but now we have this separate forum to try and deal with and we can't even verify if the posters are customers, competitors, or whatever.
"get satisfaction," although possibly quite useful for companies that don't have support capabilities, forces companies into using their service or gives the impression they are neglecting their customers somehow.
If you have questions, please go through our official support. especially with matters such as this topic.
if we have a solution to this topic we certainly would not post it publicly and customers who do, cause harm to others. Our support is for our customers, not public forums.

Thanks WiTopian, I have been onto support myself but unfortunately they do not currently have a solution. Can you forward us to an RSS feed or forum where solutions will be posted? It is not practical for us to keep recontacting support, asking whether the problem has been fixed yet. -
what is support ticket#? Many solutions are not for public posting. -
Inappropriate?@Alan Hart: I too have raised a support ticket with Witopia, and to their credit they did respond very quickly... but unfortunately not with a solution (Excerpt below):
(Begin Quote)
....We are investigating and our engineers are working on a solution for this issue. Keep in mind that accessing Hulu may be your primary reason for using our VPN service but it is not our primary purpose in providing VPN services....privacy and security is our primary purpose..... (End Quote)
Like you I am not about to raise a new ticket every few days just to check the progress, so hopefully they'll provide a better way for their customers. My renewal is coming up and I may end up looking for an alternative if they can't sort this out. Surely they could provide a range of IP's or a gateway specifically for Hulu type services that do not trigger the issue when accessing Hulu? -
it is resolved. please verify. -
Inappropriate?Just to concur with the above comments, I also opened a support ticket. As the others reported, the support team is very nice and quick to respond. Unfortunately I was basically told that if I had the more expensive vpn option, I could choose the LAX server, but since I'm on the PPTP option I can't do that. The support team discouraged me from upgrading though as that could end up blocked as well but also stated that they did not know of any plans to upgrade the PPTP service to resolve this problem. So where does that leave me?
I understand completely that Witopia doesn't want to get in a cat & mouse game with Hulu and their service isn't specifically for Hulu but, as I highlighted to the support team, their FAQ clearly states that both service options should work with Hulu. I paid for this service on that basis, so it's really misleading that their FAQ still today states that when it clearly does not work. I expressed my disappointment to support especially since I've loved Witopia thus far. I also may be looking for a different solution. -
hi,
did you contact support? if so, should be solved. you will need to use SSL though. it's $20 more a year but we can credit you for any PPTP time left. PPTP is only an entry-level solution and the only reason we keep it is mainly for those that only want to use VPN with iPhone and not their computer. -
I did contact support, as I said in my above comment - ticket #2095159 and I was specifically told not to upgrade to SSL purely for this. If the solution is more permanent I'd definitely consider it though as the service has been great thus far. If possible could you have someone from the support team respond to my ticket and detail how the fix makes the SSL option viable now.
Also just to stress again I bought PPTP because your FAQ said that it would work with Hulu, although SSL would give best results. That's a bit different from PPTP not working at all. I knew I wouldn't get "best results" with PPTP but as I trialed it and it worked fine for my purposes I didn't see a reason to buy the more expensive option (esp since I don't need access to BBC Player) If PPTP is only for iPhone use that's fine, but I don't really think the info on the site accurately reflects that.
Thanks for your help -
Inappropriate?Yeah, I too was pointed to LAX (I am an SSL customer), but as far as i can tell, it's actually blocked now too.... so not useful. Even so, as it is one of the furthest away from me geographically I suspect the latency would be too high for it to reliably stream Hulu anyway. I used to have great results with their East Coast gateways.
Can't complain about the level of service... very happy except for this issue. Security-wise it's rock solid and I use it travelling all over the world for work. Hulu is only really a "nice-to-have" at home, but ESPECIALLY when I'm travelling I need to be able to access something like Hulu from my hotel room since local programming is usually pretty dire, and the only English channels are generally news related. -

ok. done. yes...no need to post here. just send a reply from your support ticket or start a new one. this is not a support site of witopia. -
Inappropriate?Hulu is still blocking all Witopia US Gateways.
Just tested all of them with Hulu Desktop.
I hope this will be fixed in the near future 0_o
