Using video already on YouTube
Upload fails and drops me out straight away. But I have uploaded my video directly to YouTube. Is there a way I can link my existing video instead of having to upload it from Wordia - this surely makes sense since you use the YouTube link anyway!

Inappropriate?Hey Mainframeguy,
Thanks for attempting to contribute to the site, sorry the upload didn't work for you. We have been working on improving the reliability of the upload but it looks like we still have some work to do.
We don't currently have a way for users to link to existing YouTube videos though it's something we're considering adding. Keep an eye on our blog or twitter feed for details about updates to the site.
As to why the upload didn't work for you, could you please let us know which OS, browser, browser version and Flash version
you are using. Also, have you disabled Javascript by any chance?
We really want to get the upload working for everyone so any additional info you can give us to help with diagnosing the problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
James. -
Inappropriate?I have tried this with Chrome and with IE7 with identical outcomes. I have used CCleaner in between to clear all cookies and caches. I never have Javascript disabled (I am soooooo insecure!). I have the latest version of Flash and an Up to Date Vista Business.
By the way the symptoms are that the progress bas loads and then goes no where - back to home page.
I’m disappointed

Inappropriate?Hi Mainframeguy,
Sorry to hear that you are still having problems. It is a real concern for us and we are looking at it today. Thanks for your patience.
Thanks,

Inappropriate? One more question for you Mainframeguy, what video format are you trying to upload and how large is the file?
-
Inappropriate?it is WMV and about 4MB.... not ideal I know, but of course it is already there on YouTube... it occurs to me your techie guys may want to check they have got upload_max_filesize set as required on the server perhaps (just a hunch, probably too obvious, or wrong server).

I’m happy to see interest

Inappropriate?Cheers for the suggestion, will check the server config. Could you do us a favour and email the original wmv to support@wordia.com so we can rule out the file being the problem as we've recently made some changes to how mime-types are detected.
Thanks,
James. -
Inappropriate?Got it, cheers.

Inappropriate?OK, so I'm seeing a similar problem to you when trying to upload your video to our test site. I'm going to have to pass your issue on to one of our other developers who has a better understanding of the upload functionality than I do. He's out of the office 'til Thurs so I'm afraid there maybe a bit of a wait until he can get back to you but rest assured we'll get to the bottom of it.
Cheers,
James.
I’m apologetic

Inappropriate?I've pushed a fix to the server today associated with uploads but I don't think it will effect the issue you're experiencing (as it targets non-flash uploads). Apparently there are a few issues with Vista, flash and IE7 when upgrades take place (http://swfupload.org/forum/generaldis...), can you follow the flash reinstall steps and see if that helps?
If not can you let me know what time you attempt the upload and I'll check our logs. We're obtaining a copy of Vista now to try an exact recreate but XP + IE7 worked fine earlier today. -
Inappropriate?Unfortunately for you I am away from home for the weekend and so I am using an XP machine now! I agree, yes it has uploaded without a hitch from here! Took me longer to download my own video from YouTube than to make the upload! But in the interests of problem resolution I shall now be forced to define another word on Sunday or Monday when I am back home and I'll let you know how that goes! Oh yes - for your information I went through the whole process using Chrome, no issues there by the way.
I’m satisfied
