Inappropriate?Hey David, perhaps I can help.
Is this a new installation?
Do you see anything in the login page or is it just not logging in?
I’m not certain I can help much
-
Inappropriate?WP-Admin does load, just after a very very VERY long time, and trying to go to any page in WP-Admin means waiting again for a VERY long time.
This is a barebones install using SVN/Trunk. -
Inappropriate?Ok a few questions:
* Is this an overwrite of a previous installation (that is, is it using an old DB?)
* When it is loading, does it show the page that it's going to load or is it waiting on the page you clicked the link? If it's the first case, perhaps by looking at which files are taking too long you might find the answer. Try to install firebug and see if it tells you anything
* I suppose the main blog works at normal speed and only the admin panel is slow?
I’m thinking

Inappropriate? Thanks for answering back. It is brand new..not an old DB.
I can get to wp-login.php just fine, input my details and 3-5 mins later the dashboard loads.
And the main blog works fine... pages, search, posts, comments... it is just the admin going slow.
I will try Firebug... are there any other tools that could tell me what's up? -
Inappropriate?Of course, Firebug doesn't work on the version of FF I am running on my Mac. :(
-
Try using firefox 2. it should work there. -
Inappropriate?Yeah, and so does another Trunk install that was put up 2 weeks before hand.
-
Inappropriate? It has to be a JavaScript issue right?
-
Inappropriate? It's difficult to say. Other times I had such slow loads in the admin panel, it was a javascript file which was not found for some particular reason. I could see it in firebug (which is why I proposed it to you)
Have you tried another theme? -
Inappropriate? It isn't the blog theme, and if you mean admin theme... which one should I try? There aren't many for WP 2.5+.
I would love to use Firebug but I have FF3b5 on this computer, and no version of Firebug works with that version.
Very frustrating...
Thanks though.
David
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? There are some admin themes you could try. Look around.
Firebug does not work with ff3b5 (btw, ff3rc3 is out now) but it does work with firefox 2.
You can try installing firefox 2 portable and using the add-on from there.
I’m Sorry I can't be of much help
