How do I retire or permanently archive a WP blog?
How do I "retire" a WP site -- keep it online, but static. I don't want to have to update to new versions, but want it secure going forward as well.
What files need to be removed? Or is there an extension or 3rd party option for this?

Inappropriate?Good question. Since WP is completely dynamic, it doesn't really have files that you can just leave but consider secure.
If it was me, I'd probably use HTTrack [ http://www.httrack.com/ ] to create a backup, then put it up in place of the WP files. It's a bit more work than just leaving it, but you'll end up with a nice, relatively secure copy.

Inappropriate? Why don't you just leave it there and not touch it anymore, ever?

Inappropriate?Dean: Because I don't want my entire domain open to potential attacks through hackable code in an outdated WP install. And I'd like to be able to forget it, rather than update it in perpetuity, or worry about it.
