Since I have updated to alpha v.105 (Linux) I am having problems with my connection. It is o.k. for about a minute and then the status turns to yellow and shortly afterwards to red. After a few minutes I get a good connection again, but then it shuts down again and the whole procedure repeats itself. While the connection is down I can't even ping my wlan-router. After shutting down wuala, it takes about a minute and then I can ping my wlan-router again. I have already turned off the file system integration, but that doesn't do any good.
Why is wuala dowloading / uploading ca 10kb/s in average when i don't share any thing or have any files? i have sen that it is constant 10kb/s in average it is like 25 gb month in waste!
Can someone clearify this.
hi there, i wanted to post the official question about what the exact technical requirements and capabilites of network access for wuala are, to allow wuala become a supernode, or a client node and all this techstuff information.
some of my wuala clients only become storage nodes (supernode capability false, and mediated over ip/node .....)
i wonder what the exact technical requirements for the networkconnection of wuala are and if this could be made more transparent to the userbase (documentation).
all of my clients run on highcapacity broadband nodes, but none of the wuala clients run directly on the external ip-address/interface visible to the external inet.
some wuala clients run via a upnp-capable internetgateway, others have normal portforwaring set up properly. all wuala client connections result in a good/green connection. all nodes exchange and host/trade storage.
so far it seems as if supernodecapability was somehow related to upnp-ed connection (or maybe direct inet connection without any firewall/restrictions).
i am wondering if this could be enhanced or why portforwarded wuala clients wont become supernodes.
Could you tell me exactly what is installed for WIndows?
I want to know if any services, shell extensions, task scheduling, etc are created. In other words what is put on my computer other than a stand-alone application? I've had some major problems in the past with apps that don't cleanly uninstall or use my computers resources badly.
Wuala, only on one machine, attempts to upload a file every 10 minutes or so. The file does not exist, and so cannot be uploaded. The file doesn't appear in the 'Show Uploads' window, nor does it appear anywhere else that I can find. As best I can remember, I tried copying this particular file onto my W: drive through Windows Explorer with a number of other files; for whatever reason, I rebooted my machine in the middle of this transfer--and this particular file was left behind. Now, Wuala gives me an error message "Could not upload file.name" every 10 minutes or so. Solutions?
pasting wuala -nogui's output seems the best way to me to describe the problem:
Wuala>version
Version Linux v105
Wuala>tradeStats
Average online time: 21.00%
Current limit: 2 GB
Last update: 3:48 PM
Locally stored data (according to the other users): 1.6 GB
Earned storage: 434 MB
Earned storage is split among 1 users of this computer
Wuala>showQuota
Quota: 2 GB
File Sizes: 24 MB
Base: 1 GB
Friend earned: 1 GB
Node earned: 0 B
Given: 0 B
Content use: 2.4 MB
List use: 22 MB
Earned: Earned: 0 B from 0 different nodes
Why does "tradeStats" ("Earned storage: 434 MB") still differ to "showQuota" ("Node earned: 0 B") even 17%-limit was hit a few days ago? Is it a bug or a feature? ;-)
br,
Kristof
P.S. #1: Client has been restarted a few times over the last week.
P.S. #2: Windows-client on a different machine neither mentions the earned storage by the Linux-node (Windows-client has been restarted a few times as well).
P.S. #3: My Wuala-username is Korwisi.
I'm trying to use Wuala with my SQL Backups. Unfortunately MYSQL Administrator is not playing nice with FSI. The two errors i've gotten when trying to backup to W: are:
File not writable
File Doesn't Exist
today i sent invites out with skype, but as the skype windows opened there was only the message "null" sent - maybe the update wuala installed today did nothing good to skype inviting...
however i could recover the invites under the friends page by opening an invited friend, read the message that should have been sent and resend them manually.
but still it's much more comfortable to let wuala do the work ;)
I'm wondering if theres something like a roadmap available for the Wuala project? Would be interesting to know some future plans, features and dates. As said here: http://getsatisfaction.com/wuala/topi...
the Beta is planned to be available in the first half of 2008.
But nothing about the additional features it'll have. Would be great to get some more information about these plans.
I'm in the situation where I work on a laptop, which connection oscillates between work and home.
Basically, if I can't use wuala correctly because it's unavailable behind my workplace firewall, it's of no use to me anymore.
I know there are simple solutions that permit connexions from firewalled machine to firewalled machine, like used in e.g. skype.
(I also know skype relays are a pain in the ass for netadmins too ;) )
Wouldn't there be a way to use elegant solutions for these situations ?
I mean, if my service is hampered because I can't take advantage of my workplace connection, I'm loosing so much wuala loses all interest.
For starters, I'm still useful for non firewalled hosts, since I could be "told" by a relay to connect directly to them in case they have something to request from me. Which wouldn't cost the relays much in that case.
Second, even if I take bandwidth form relays in the firewall to firewall case, I still bring in presence regularity, which is a definite plus to lower file replication.
Most important: if I don't have that possibility, wuala is a No for me, and I'm simply gone. Loss for everyone.
So, what is your stance in the close future regardig that ?
After the May 5 Update (419), all outstanding uploads vanished. This happened on Windows Vista x64 and Windows XP x86.
Vista seems to be slowly doing maintenance. XP has no activity.
I noticed that random mp3 files will not play. I opened the wuala gui and found that these files are now only 1k in length. I have the files all downloaded to my Windows XP machine and imported into iTunes over the W drive. I opened one of the 1k files in Notepad and found that it only contains the ID3 tag. I suspect at some point that iTunes decided to update the tag and the filesystem rewrote the entire file as opposed to just updating the tag.
Any ideas?
The file is clearly marked as downloaded in the UI so I'm not sure what else I can do.
hah, crazy survey if you cant actually enter the information that you need.
select some country you live in, and you cant continue the survey from page one as apparently some countries are outlawed to take part in the survey.....
i guess thats some antiterrorstrategy or united states export restrictions and censorship and other megalomaniac regulations.
too bad for the wuala users who live in the wrong country.
what is "Wuala umfrage" link (ihre meinung zahlt) supposed to do/trigger/start?
i only get a windows dialogbox popup with an error: "wuala umfrage" , "windows cannot find 'wuala umfrage' make sure you type the name correctly and try again. to search for a file click the start button and the click search....."
is this some external trigger, missing/bad url (link) time or something?
all happening with wuala build 422 on win32 (xp). i never realized that there was this umfrage stuff showing in the wuala gui. is this new with todays build?
Tried to run it for the first time and it failed with the following stack trace on ubuntu desktop 7.04:
