I've tried to purge my local cache as size of my "Local2" folder was larger than shown in the status and larger than the limit set. After clicking "Clean", most of the data has been deleted but 2.4 GB is still left (both phyisically on disk and listed as "Used" which, I presume, is tha overhead which was not taken into account in the status. My question is - what is the best and safest way to get rid of that data? Is it okay just to delete all remaining "orphanded" files from "Local2\Large" folder? Won't this cause any database inconsistencies? Or maybe it's better just to delete whole "Local2" folder and let Wuala recreate it from scratch? And what about "Local2\Map" dir - what's its purpose? Is it somehow related to "Local2\Large" or just contains references to local filesystem in order for Wuala to be able to maintain the files from local disk instead of downloading fragments and then re-uploading them?
I formatted my hard drive, now I don't have a local copy of any of the files, are they still being maintained, what can I do so that they will be maintained?
Hey folks, I am new to Wuala and donwloaded a file from a friends group, after this I wanted to keep this file on my HD, so I thought I just could copy it from the Cache to another place I like and rename it. But I was stupid as it is still encoded, so I could not open it. Then I renamed it to the original Cache name and placed it back, but Wuala did not recognize it as downloaded. I know it is no prob to down it again. But I just want to know if I can get Wuala to recognize it again as already downloaded.
clearing the local cache should be done asynchronously, I think... I accidently hit that button and now the gui's been blocked for several minutes already...
I started this just to clear a few things out. I like to control the size of my Wuala folder and the amount of traffic that Wuala generates but currently I don't understand any of them.
I'm a bit confused about what happens when I drag a file into wuala. This is what I think that happens:
- the file is copied into cache
- the file is uploaded
- the file can be removed from the cache if I click the 'clear cache' button
Wuala also remembers the file location and modification date, so if I want to access a file that isn't in cache but it's still at its original location, I don't need to re-download it.
So, I have a few of questions. First: who maintains my files? I thought that the files were maintained by the Wuala server but the 'Show Maintenance' button in the uploads window still shows some files that are maintained by me.
Second, how can I maintain files if I have no local backup of them? Are they only maintained if I have them in cache?
Third, why does my Wuala folder have 300 MB if I just cleared the cache?
And finally, is that anonymous maintenance stuff coming or what? :)
when I try to upload a file into a shared folder I get this error message: "Transaktion153 fehlgeschlagen. ... Element is not in cache, [some numbers]". The folder is set on "shared with all and future friends". Uploading the same file into a privat or public folder and then copy it into the shared folder works fine.
I'm running Build 426 on WinXP SP2.
What is the difference between these settings?
If I set "local cache size" to 2GB and "limit storage usage to" (in trading options) to 10 GB, does it work?
Or are they two independent settings?
I would like to be able to manage the files I have in cache. I think it would be nice if I could browse through my cache, see which files I have cached and delete them individually if I don't want some of them. Currently I only have the option to clean all the cache.
