Allow users to share space on multiple partitions/HDDs Last reply on June 11, 2008 06:08.
Hi People,
I am running multiple PCs at home each with at least 2 HDDs. 1 of the HDDs is meant as a backup for 'more important' files or simply to add more storage. Now my problem is that Wuala can only use space on one partition. This means that I cannot share all the space that I don't need simply because I cannot divide it.
I would love to see an option which allows me to share Folders on different partitions and set a seperate sharing-limit on each of them.
I hope that this is possible and feasible for you to integrate since it would help me a lot!
Thanks,
Darkstriker

new feature? database cleanup - during every startup of wuala? Last reply on June 19, 2008 13:24.
hi there,
apparently there is a new feature during startup, named database cleanup. defragmentation of the datastorage or such.
interestingly i have never seen this window up til now, but it comes up during every restart of the wuala client (win32, b446).
is this the normal behaviour? -

Average Online Time updates only after saving options Last reply on May 20, 2008 14:09.
Under "Trade Storage" in the Options window, the average online time is not not updated until you save the options. This means to check your average online time you need to open the options windows, save the options (which closes the window), and open the window a second time. It was also extremely confusing as a new user because I never saw my online time increasing, which made me frustrated because I thought I'd never hit the 17% needed to share storage.

technical requirements and capabilites of network access (supernode, storagenode, ...) Last reply on May 16, 2008 07:21.
hi there, i wanted to post the official question about what the exact technical requirements and capabilites of network access for wuala are, to allow wuala become a supernode, or a client node and all this techstuff information.
some of my wuala clients only become storage nodes (supernode capability false, and mediated over ip/node .....)
i wonder what the exact technical requirements for the networkconnection of wuala are and if this could be made more transparent to the userbase (documentation).
all of my clients run on highcapacity broadband nodes, but none of the wuala clients run directly on the external ip-address/interface visible to the external inet.
some wuala clients run via a upnp-capable internetgateway, others have normal portforwaring set up properly. all wuala client connections result in a good/green connection. all nodes exchange and host/trade storage.
so far it seems as if supernodecapability was somehow related to upnp-ed connection (or maybe direct inet connection without any firewall/restrictions).
i am wondering if this could be enhanced or why portforwarded wuala clients wont become supernodes.
cheers. -

Quota's not updated Last reply on May 15, 2008 02:01.
Hello folks,
pasting wuala -nogui's output seems the best way to me to describe the problem:
Wuala>version
Version Linux v105
Wuala>tradeStats
Average online time: 21.00%
Current limit: 2 GB
Last update: 3:48 PM
Locally stored data (according to the other users): 1.6 GB
Earned storage: 434 MB
Earned storage is split among 1 users of this computer
Wuala>showQuota
Quota: 2 GB
File Sizes: 24 MB
Base: 1 GB
Friend earned: 1 GB
Node earned: 0 B
Given: 0 B
Content use: 2.4 MB
List use: 22 MB
Earned: Earned: 0 B from 0 different nodes
Why does "tradeStats" ("Earned storage: 434 MB") still differ to "showQuota" ("Node earned: 0 B") even 17%-limit was hit a few days ago? Is it a bug or a feature? ;-)
br,
Kristof
P.S. #1: Client has been restarted a few times over the last week.
P.S. #2: Windows-client on a different machine neither mentions the earned storage by the Linux-node (Windows-client has been restarted a few times as well).
P.S. #3: My Wuala-username is Korwisi.

Option for Pre-Allocation of Shared Storage Last reply on May 14, 2008 21:23.
It would be nice to be able to pre allocate shared storage space, to avoid file system fragmentation. Even if this method allocated large blocks of space, like 1 gb at a time, it would still reduce the fragmentation. -

Headless Servers and Wuala Last reply on April 16, 2008 19:24.
When is Wuala on a headless server going to earn storage based on online time and trade limit rather than locally stored data?

Speicher bug wurde schlimmer Last reply on March 28, 2008 17:50.
Nachdem ich vor einigen Tage einen Bug bei der Speicheranzeige hier ins Forum gepostet hatte (http://getsatisfaction.com/wuala/topi...), musste ich heute leider feststellen, dass dieser noch schlimmer wurde.

Earned Storage Based on Current Limit Last reply on March 13, 2008 12:47.
I wasn't able to find an official answer or thread for that matter concerning the amount of earned storage being based on "Locally stored data" as opposed to the "Current limit". I'm not sure I want to allow Wuala to use 40gb of my hard drive for 1gb of earned online storage and I don't see it changing over the course of the month I've used Wuala. Is there a plan regarding this matter?
Thanks for any input!

Local cache size and locally stored data Last reply on March 02, 2008 07:54.
What is the difference between these settings?
If I set "local cache size" to 2GB and "limit storage usage to" (in trading options) to 10 GB, does it work?
Or are they two independent settings? -

multiple clients - temporary clients (actively push data into backupspace (other running clients of same user)) Last reply on February 28, 2008 08:44.
hi there,
from time to time i need to startup a wuala client at some remote destination (clients, friends, whatever...) and just log into my wuala useraccount and just dump some files/data into my wuala-space. what i am wondering about how quickly i can logout/close this temporary wuala client so that my uploaded/added data stays alive in my wuala dumpspace.
it would be best if a running client when doing uploads, would first look for other clients running with the same credentials and then trying to dump the data first to these same-account nodes, or maybe after a while there could be also nodes of friends (wuala friends), or the nodes that a wuala node is closest to (network-wise) and so on....
sometimes i have only little time to let this temporary wuala node running, and i dont know when i am on the safe side so that my uploaded file(s) have safely arrived inside the wuala storage space.
maybe you are even already doing this on your clients/nodes, but it hasnt been clear, thats why i have posted this.
i have also read about your plans, there there will be a standalone wuala java-only (non-install) client, which could (probably) run from websites (applet) and so on, without real installation on any operatingsystem that comes with java support.
this would also make sense, to have these java (most likely) temporary clients to first try to communicate to other running clients of the same user, so that they spread modified/new data to the more stable and persistent clients of the same user first, and that those clients then take over the spreading and distribution of the data fragments/parts.
thanks and cheers. -

Buying additional storage Last reply on February 27, 2008 17:01.
That sounds like an alternative for those who don't have enough storage capacity in their own hard disk. But only in that case, cause Wuala emerged as an alternative to the virtual hard drives , as well as a new p2p system. -

Storage bar Last reply on January 21, 2008 16:04.
It would be nice, if wuala had a bar, that shows how many storage I use.
