Connection Status not updated
Hi folks,
several points in this post:
First: I temporarily forwarded 7492 to my server (some of you might still remember my old post about my server not having forwarded that port and the port not being able to be changed yet). So I did that and I ran the connection check which returns:
Analyzing Connection...
Got answer from Ping Server A, your external adress is /85.145.149.43:7492
Got answer from Ping Server B, your external adress is /85.145.149.43:7492
/85.145.149.43:7492 accepts incoming connections.
Congratulations, your connection is suitable for trading storage!
Still, under my port settings, it says: X "Connection not suitable for trading storage"
Second: While in the connection tab in the settings it says that my connection is not suitbale, in the Storage tab it says: X "Your compiter is well connected."
Two points: There is a cross in front which doesn't correspond to the text and the text doesn't correspond to what it says in the Connection tab.
Third: Average online time is give in 3 significant figures but it says exactly 9.00% which obviously cannot be true because it has been saying that for almost 10 hours and I only use Wuala for approximately 1day so it should change quite quickly if I am online.
And last but not least:
Fourth: When the point next to the status indicator (which says "Online") is green, does that mean, that I can share storage or simply that I am online?
Thanks for reading my way too long post and taking the time to maybe answer me ^^,
Darkstriker

Inappropriate?Hi.
The visuals are not all self explanatory yet. We'll try to get better there. Let me quickly try to answer your questions / problems.
For your connection to be suitable you have to have a connection which works and you have to fulfill the minimal online time requirement. Only when both of that is fulfilled your overall connection is deemed suitable for trading storage. Meaning: You have all the settings right now (at least that is what I understand from your text, not sure why question no 2 is appearing. There should be a check) and starting from now your online time will be measured. When your computer is online 17% you can start sharing storage.
However your online time is measured in a delayed mode. Your computer is considered as having been online for 10% for the last 30 days. Every day you are online now will add to your online time, if you are online for more than 10% that day. (Example: For every day you are online 100% it adds approx. 3%) until it maxes out at 100.)
I hope that more or less answers 1/2/3.
For no.4: The little bulb in the bottom is not for sharing but connection to the network in general and rather is important for uploading and downloading files. When green you can do everything. When you are behind a firewall or there is a problem with certain meta servers or similar it will become yellow. Then you will not be able to upload normally and you will usually not be able to download large files. However you'd be able to download small files such as most images. When read you are not connected to the network at all and therefore you can not down- or upload. However Wuala also works when disconnected. That means you can still open files you still have in Cache, open your own files or put files into Wuala which will be uploaded later, when you get a green bulb again. The advantage here is that you can put images into Wuala when on the train, add descriptions and tags etc. and when you get a connection again all of that will be uploaded.
I’m confident

Inappropriate? Thanks Moritz! Here some more technical detail: Green means that you are connected to the peer-to-peer network. We've improved connectivity such that often you can upload and download any files even if your status is yellow, as long as you can send and receive UDP packets.

Inappropriate?Thanks for the fast answer.
Some corrections to it however:
After a restart of the application, the connection will show up as suitable without having reached the minimum uptime requirement. (More importantly this uptime is not counted as uptime by the application, for details see my other bug-report)
Thanks also to Luzius
I’m thankful and confident
