CPU usage is to high
Every 10 or so seconds when Wuala is running it will use 100% of my CPU capacity. Which is highly annoying to say the least.
This is happening while i'm not up or downloading files.
I made a screenshot of this and posted it on my ISPs webspace: http://members.home.nl/dutchman/Wuala...
Please fix this bug soon as it is almost impossible to enjoy Wuala like this.

I just had a closer look at this and I've found out that the low priority was only set when assembling fragments, but not when generating them. I'll change that with the next update, so Wuala will (hopefully) behave as described in future. Thanks for reporting this and sorry for the annoyance. (I didn't notice it myself since I'm usaing a dual-core processor. :) )

Inappropriate?I guess Wuala was performing file maintance. To do so, it creates additional redundant fragments which requires lots of calculations. You can see these maintenance uploads when opening the upload queue and clicking on "show maintenance". These calculations are done with lowest priority, so as soon as any other application wants to use the processor, the system gives them priority. So these calculations should not slow down your system at all.

Inappropriate?"So these calculations should not slow down your system at all."
If this was the case i wouldn't have writen a post. It interrupted both typing in mIRC aswell as browsing in Opera.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? It happens to me too, in windows only.

Inappropriate? After updating itself to 370 it still spikes, but it doesn't interrupt my other programs anymore indeed.
So i guess the problem is solves, thanks :)
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Hello,
First, congratulations for this great application!!! :)
I have the same problem of CPU load.
Wuala in my WinXP is using 100% CPU (as shown in the Windows Task Manager)
I just downloaded and installed Wuala today (2008 Feb 15), so I guess it is the last release.
-
Inappropriate? When uploading or downloading Wuala might do quite a lot of calculations. However, if it the CPU usage is permanent or if it is slowing down other applications, it might also be a bug. In that case, you can press Ctrl-Alt-X on any Wuala window (our 'emergency brake' :) ). This will send us a report about Wuala was doing at that moment and quit Wuala immediately. That way, we could find out if it was for example stuck in a loop.
-
Inappropriate?Thanks for the reply.
I did that (Crtl-Alt-X). I hope that you got the report.
Otherwise tell me how to send it to you.
Some info in case it may be relevant:
I am using Remote Desktop Connection to use the WinXP where Wuala is working. (That is, I don't have physical access to that computer)
So, maybe Wuala does not detect that it should lower its CPU priority.

Inappropriate?I restarted Wuala, and now it runs smoothly.

Inappropriate?I had a 100% CPU peak when uploading a photo (just 300KB...) ; by clicking on "Pause" then "Start now" it fixed the problem...
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for reporting. I've seen the same bug this morning and now I'm uploading lots of files in the hope to be able to reproduce and resolve it. :) I hope I can resolve this soon.
-
Inappropriate?new 100% peak: I was adding you as my friend ;) and then 100% cpu during several minutes (until I killed the process)
Does it help you if I do a ctrl-alt-X in these cases? -
Inappropriate?Yes it should help (unless the user interface is frozen). Did you have some uploads running? In that case, it could have been the upload bug again. I've just resolved that one (or at least eliminated one more problem that could have led to this). The fix will be deployed with tomorrows update.

Inappropriate? With the latest version (382) I've a problem with my 3.3 GB file that is finished uploading, but now it appears in "maintenance" and wuala uses 100% cpu for 30 seconds, then rests for 5 seconds, and the loop repeats endlessly.
And I can't stop Wuala, I need to kill the process in task manager...
-
Inappropriate?Today I re-launched Wuala and waited for a while, and now cpu consumption is fine. My file is still in status "refreshing" and appears in maintenance (and upload rate is high).
Maybe there is a maintenance task that consumes a lot of cpu with big files.
