data backup
Hello!
I would ensure that we will not lose our data if we switch to wuala. Can we ensure that we have a full local copy of the data stored in wuala?

Inappropriate?run as many wuala clients/nodes as possible and take part in the wuala network. every now and then (or daily, or the frequency you think to be appropriate) download all your files/folders yourself in your own wuala client as well.
ctrl+a, ctrl+d (shotcut hotkeys).
wuala tends to give way and release storage space so your files eventually go "away" and are only stored in the wuala network as chunks/parts. if you wana really be sure you should download (re-load, refetch) all the chunks and parts to your local wuala clients and thus being sure that your clients store a complete copy as well of your own files.
i dont know if wuala will ever implement an automatic feature like this, or simply a setting that the wuala client should also keep a backup as long as possible of your own files, or certain filetypes, certail folders, or certain users (that have been logged into the local wuala client in the past) and so on. -
Inappropriate?thanks for the response.
Yes an option top backup will give a crouwd of users some more security to the "i won't lose all my data" fact. I think its an important Feature that would improve wuala - give the user a secure way to backup their data, also if wuala would get broken (i don't think so, but it has to be in a risk-management)
I hope you will discuss about it within the wuala team!

Inappropriate?good thing with wuala is that you can "login" to wuala even with no network connection at all, so even if backend connectivity is lost, if you are not even connected to the internets and such, assuming that you have at least been logged into wuala at a certain wuala client at least once successfully.
and then, if you have always downloaded/completed your own files in that wuala client (or in multiple clients) that all become disconnected by the wuala network, either because of disaster, because of lawenforcements, politics, end-of-world-scenarios or whatever, you still have your downloaded stuff in the wuala client application.
so nobody can actually take wuala data from you that resides on your physical hardware/clients, you just cant get any more new data any more.
so even if wuala goes out of business, cancels this whole project or whatnot, your wuala data is safe as long as you keep it complete on your own client/node.
