Directory Hard Links in Groups
I want to be able to either:
1: See links to directories in the tree view
2: Be able to have the same directory in my user folder as in the group. ie changes to one would change the other.

Inappropriate?I'm also quiet interrested in this topic. I don't care that much about tree views, but i found some strange behaviour concerning directory links:
When trying to make a link to a private folder in a directory. 1st: it becomes a "hard link" (no arrow on the icon), 2: when i delete it, wuala gives me 2 warnings, asking if i'd REALLY like to delete the link, since X files would be deleted, under that directory. This, although, doesn't happen, thereafter. The Files are still there in my Private area.
Also: if i change subdirectory structures (don't know about files) in my private are below the link target dir, the changes are not visible in the "hard linked" group folder.
It gets of course all quiet complicated. Doesn't really matter so far. What matters to me is that i'd actually rather have a "SOFT LINK" in the group folder, that links to my private area - and that i don't like (directory) hard links that much at all because then issues are starting about permissions. (Finally, there must be a reason no directory hard links exist in the unix (read: linux) world yet)

Inappropriate?@Patrick:
1. displaying links to directories in the tree view is on our wish list.
2. Take a look at the group posting folder. There you have a flat view of all files you've posted to your groups.
@Patrick2000:
Did you use the copy (link) action or the copy (file) action? I'm a little bit confused because what you describe is exactly the behaviour for the copy file action.
There are no hard links. If you post private stuff to a group, the files are copied to that group (again, there is a link in your group posting folder). Only soft links to public stuff are possible. -
Inappropriate? What I'm really having trouble with is this, I have a about 7000 files uploaded, but when I change the tags in one folder, it doesn't change in the other. Same with thumbnails.

Inappropriate?Oh - ok! Thanks, Roger, for your reply. I used "copy link". I just checked and the behaviour is exactly as you described: I tried to make a link in Group Folder to one of my shared folders. This behaves the same way like links to private folders. Well, for me it's ok like that, I'd only suggest that wuala should give me an error/info message when pasting the link, and tell me what it's doing (copying files) - i thought it was a hard link.
I wanted to link to one of my shared folders, that i'm shareing whith almost everybody of that group. So I'd actually be even hapier if it did, what i wanted and create a regular soft link (which would then eventually be inaccessible to some unauthorised guests, but this sould be the concern of the owner/creator of the link to set up appropriate access rights in that case).

Inappropriate?@Patrick: you made most likely a copy and not a link.
@Patrick2000: With the current solution you don't have to think about access rights. So its much simpler for most users. Your idea is much more complicated as you have to adjust the access rights for each new group member. -
Inappropriate?I did make a copy. I was trying to make the point that I can't access them in my user folders using W:\ and let other people access them in the group through W:\ without copying.
-
Inappropriate?Naaa... But I want a soft link! People who want a copy, simply choose "copy file" - i choose "copy link" and want it to do that link and not silently do the same as "copy file".
The reason is is that I'm constantly updating the contents of my personal folder and don't want to update it on the group as well. There is different content in the group area and i want be able to put a link to my private stuff there, that only selectet people of the group can access.
You shouldn't take users for fools I think. Whoever knows what he's doing shouldn't be prevented from doing it.

Inappropriate? You seem to think I want to replace the current symbolic links (shortcuts), but I don't. I don't want to remove the current symbolic links, I just want a third option.

Inappropriate?ok, got it :)
