file with same size does not get synchronized
an updated truecrypt file does not get synchronized with the online version. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that filesize stays the same

Inappropriate?Unfortunately, that was not the case. To reproduce the problem:
1. download a truecrypt file from the Wuala account
2. mount it, change or add a file
3. unmount, upload it back to Wuala
4. from a different computer, download the tc file again
5. the tc file holds the old information
Since truecrypt volumes have fixed sizes, Wuala might simply check whether a file is updated by looking at its size, rather than calculating a hash.
I’m hoping for a solution

Inappropriate?Hey bramgn,
files will be updated with the backup-system when the size OR the date has changed. So usually, this should not happen. It will be investigated. Thanks for report. -
Inappropriate?any update on this?
-
Inappropriate? Are you uploading the file through Wualas backup functionality or do you put the changed fiile by hand back into Wuala. I'm not sure what the backup stuff does, but Wuala in general looks at the content, not the size or modification date. So I guess this should work.
-
Inappropriate? The updated file gets put back into Wuala by hand. If Wuala would indeed look at the content, it should see that it needs te re-upload it, rather than use the cached version (the upload seems instantaneous)
-
Inappropriate? Can you open the "uploads" window (double click the up-arrow in the status bar of the wuala window)and check that the file doesn't show up there? Putting something into the Wuala UI doesn't upload the file, it just puts it into the local cache and schedules it for later upload.
-
Inappropriate?@bramgn: as bagelcat said, Wuala looks at the file size and the modification date. If both match, it assumes it is the same file. Is it possible that true crypt prevents the modification date of the file from being updated? In that case, we have the explanation.
-
Inappropriate?Yes, truecrypt, by default, does NOT update the modification date for plausible deniability reasons. You can change this setting under:
Settings -> Preferences -> UNcheck "Preserve timestamps of file containers"
The filesize of a truecrypt files NEVER changes. You'd have to recreate an entire truecrypt file if you need a different size. But the actual contents of will change when something is added/updated/deleted.
Bagelcat said "files will be updated with the backup-system when the size OR the date has changed"
With truecrypt...this is the case. NEITHER change. But if you modify that setting, truecrypt will change the date after an update.
Hope this helps!
I’m smart

Inappropriate?Thomas, i checked the upload window, but the file doesn't get uploaded, whereas when i rename the file and try to upload it, it does show up.
@Luzius: having the same size and the modification date seems to be the cause of the 'problem', even though content was updated.
@computerwiz12890: unchecking that option in Truecrypt has solved the problem, Wuala now prompts me a question of what to do when i try to re-upload the file.
Thanks everybody for solving this issue
