How to change the tmp folder?
I use Wuala on a solaris with a lot of users. It saves files in /var/tmp/WualaTemp/
Export/, Download/ and Upload/ which is a problem, because tmp files should be in /tmp/<username> ($TMPDIR). Especially if I open private data, it is a problem, because everybody has read access. </username>

Inappropriate?hm. the problem here is more that wuala do not use the given structure for you system than the security, because wuala should only store encrypted and parted files in that temp folder.
Nowaday, the location of the tempfolder can not be changed inside wuala (but you can do some softlinking on your system if it helps..). This is a problem for a lot of people on differents systems and is hopefully changed soon. ;) -
Inappropriate? The last Update added a Start Option to change the path. You can now change the temporary path by adding "setTempPath path" in the wualacmd or wuala batchfilfe.
The command should look like this:
In the wualacmd batch: ./wuala -nogui -setTempPath yourpath $@
or if you are using the gui
In the wuala batch: $JAVA -ea -Xmx256m -jar ./loader2.jar -setTempPath yourpath $*
I’m happy

Inappropriate? How can you change this on a windows machine?
Besides this
http://getsatisfaction.com/wuala/topi...
I also noticed that the data is stored unencrypted in the temp folder -
Inappropriate?Hi joe,
hopefully the tmp-path is editable soon on win.
As it seems, the unencrypted files are stored when you edit a file only. Can you confirm that? They ́re working on that problem.. -
Inappropriate? No, these are NOT edited files! They also have the original (!) file name + a few random letters/numbers at the beginning
I noticed them because my drive c: suddenly was full
I'm only using rsync with the network drive
In this directory there are also lots of files named "...patch.tmp"
WualaTemp: ~ 8500 files
WualaTemp\Upload: ~ 87.000 files !!!
But all files are already uploaded so this means that these are the fragments for maintenance
My wish is that all tmp-files, fragments, cache-files, etc. are stored nice and clean in ONE directory which the user can change in the Wuala settings - local cache
If the files are not needed any longer they should be deleted
The only problem is how many fragments should be kept for maintenance or if they are newly created every maintenance run. -
Inappropriate?Well I was out for some time...
On Solaris files in tmp where also not encrypted. At least files in the "Export" folder. Don't know if that has changed but somewhere decrypted files must be stored (no fsi on that computer).
Thanks for "setTempPath". Next time I'm at Solaris I will try it.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Hello,
to make an official answer for the original question:
the solution is: Use the "set Temp Path" function in the settings.

Inappropriate?... and for the other point of the thread:
The temp path should be cleared correctly now, can you confirm it?
Some files in the temp path can not be encrypted. This is the case, when you download a files to stream it or to make changes. The files will be hold in the temp during the operations. But it should be deleted some times after it, thats true.

Inappropriate?I wanted to use it now under ubuntu, but it seems not to use the argument.
The commandline is this:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.16/jre/bin/java -ea -XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=30 -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=10 -Xmx256m -Xms50m -cp /home/nexx/wuala/loader2.jar com.wuala.loader2.Loader2 -setTempPath /wuala/tmp"$@"
Did I something wrong? When I stream something wuala uses still /tmp
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Hello Nexx,
please start Wuala without the setTempPath option. Once started, write
./wuala setTempPath yourpath
quit and restart Wuala. The temp directory will permanently moved to the new point.
Regards.
Bernd

Thx. That worked.
For other people I want to add another method:
Alternatively, you can specify the temp path in wuala.cfg (e.g. temppath=/home/temp)
Note that the settings in wuala.cfg takes precedence over the one set with 'setTempPath'.
