Joining duplicate files
Does Wuala automatically find (by hash) and join duplicate data uploaded by different users?
This would really improve reliability and download speed and would lower the needed disk space.

Inappropriate?Yes. It detects duplicated hash and marks file as uploaded at once (which already confused some people ;-))
-
Inappropriate?Actually they don't get "joined", but since the parts get encrypted + splitted the same way, they already exist in the Net and Wuala recognizes that and your upload seems to be really fast.

Inappropriate? What I don't understand is -- if the file pieces are encrypted, how can one piece uploaded by someone else be the same as mine?
-
Inappropriate? The file is encrypted using the hash of the file. So if you upload the same file, they are encrypted with the same key. But you can't decrypt the file, if you don't know the hash, so the hash is stored encrypted with your personal key somewhere in the database of Wua.la.
