Search by "hash"
Sometime I want to share with my friend some files ( example; an ISO of 1GB )
This means that I'll need to upload it completely, and it takes a lot of time.
Anyway, I know that Wuala will share it instantaneously if It will find that it has already shared somewhere.
I won't need to upload it, and this is good.
The problem here is that I have anyway to start the upload to see if it is already available on the network, it's just useless.
The request is: can you add a way to search files by hash? ( MD4/MD5/SHA/.... )
Can you also add a simpler way to see if a file is already available on the network?
Example: I'll drop the file ( that I have on my computer ) "somewhere" on Wuala, and it will show me every public group / public folder that has it.

Inappropriate?even more: sometimes i wish to know where this element (even private ones) is being shared overall in other peoples wuala storage areas (public, or accessible at least).
in short: is this element already shared elsewhere? if yes, show me the other locations. -
Inappropriate? You always need to upload it. If it is already in the network, you don't have to wait. If the file is public, simply search for the name.
If you can tell me a legal reason why devs should implement this I will be very surprised... -
what do you mean legal? you are not a native english speaker i suppose. legal rights are not the point. searching for hash allows for organizing, grouping with people of similar interest, remembering or re-searching a file and being able to know where it once came from and much more. searching for all kinds of things, metainformation, tags, properties of files helps the whole community.
once upon a time there was a call for being able to construct better and more complex search queries in wuala. this feature has not yet come to pass, we are all eagerly waiting for it. please allow us to search more thoroughly and in a more sophisticated manner. maybe some acquisition or merger with google would help ):> -
with "legal" I mean that the only usage I can think of would be people with similar "interests" to look for "all kinds of things" to download from Wuala so that they don't have to find the files somewhere else ;-) -
Inappropriate?- The file name can be different ( not the hash )
- I want to know if someone is sharing one of my files around in public group/folder ( with different name )
- Wuala has already all the core-fuction to do this, it just need some GUI options for the normal user.
If you think that this is a really advanced feature ( so it isn't good for noob user ), you can always add a new advanced option that hide it by default.
I’m frustrated
1 person thinks
this is one of the best points

I guess an advanced search is on the big Wuala todo list
