Inappropriate? Not directly, however your friend can upload files, you can copy them to your files and your friend can then upload some other files.
Sharing space is not a really good idea, since it is rather likely that such a system will be abused. -
Inappropriate?I disagree...
I want to create a pooled storage drive for my peers. Our projects require contributors to upload multiple files between 1GB and 2GB.
In my first example the contributor is test driving WUA.LA but not interested in inviting users. Simply using WUA.LA to share specific files with me. He could not contribute all of files, without the download upload work around.
I want to grant him the ability to use my storage.
or maybe as a work around the ability to claim a file as my own would work. -
If he only wants to test Wuala, he can do this fine with 1 GB. If he wants more space, he can fill out the survey, invite friends, share HD-space or (soon) simply buy more storage from Caleido.
Currently the inability to get large quantities of storage space fast is only a limitaion of the alpha version because you can't (yet) buy space. -
Inappropriate?I think point is, he is part of wua.la only because he is giving ME specific files. He's not there to test, his function is only to be part of my work team. He creates files.
I am the wua.la user, I am the one who will install a dedicated wua.la box and will buy additional storage. I want to give him enough storage. -
Inappropriate?Let that person use your login & password.

Inappropriate?an effective work around.
I guess I could create an ID for the group. There's no limit to the number of places I can run the client is there?
I'll wait and see how the product develops. I'll kick my friend and tell him to invite someone, we only need 2GB max from him. (he copies the contents of a 2GB CD card) - once I have it I process, archive and delete his online copy. -
Inappropriate?I have four computers running Wuala and if you max trade storage to 100GB, your cloud spaces will go up quickly as your online time percentage increases.
-
Inappropriate?@alive88: no, there is no limit. You can use one account on as many computers you want.
Furthermore, buying storage (also for friends or employees, not only for your personal account) will be possible in a few weeks. -
Inappropriate? How is it with the space for the group orders? who gives the space for this order? The one creating the order? so then it's like sharing space, if i grant writing access on the order?
i find it much more dangerous for abuse, if many people uses one unpersonal login. -
Inappropriate?Generally, groups don't have a quota limit. If you post something to a group folder, your own quota is decreased, not the one of the folder owner.
-
Inappropriate?so it isn't possible to grant more space to someone new on the network without sharing my login with him? Thats really pitty.
-
Inappropriate?Well, Space in Wuala is more like "work" than like "money" - you have to do (earn) it yourself rather than just have someone else who throws a few Gigabytes in your direction...
For example: I have ~40 invites left - if I create 40 Accounts, do the survey 40 times and select the "1GB Bonus" and then transfer all that to my main account I get 120 GB from that alone! (40 for invitations and 80 from the accounts) This can easily be scripted and after 1 day I'd have a few Terabytes out of nothing!
No, space should be something that only you can get or use. 2 GB for a new user (1 + 1 for the survey) are far enough for the beginning and after just a few days you can earn storage as well.

Inappropriate?Sharing personal storage with other users is not planned.
