Solution for small business?
I know this has been asked before, but how can I turn Wuala into a solution for my small business? I need about 100GB of storage split between 30 to 50 users. I need separate user accounts, because different users will have access to different files. The division of the storage needs to be fluid, since we don't know who will contribute the most data. The best solution in my mind is dedicating the storage space to a share, but I've read that its not a viable option.
Any hints from someone who's successfully set up a small business and replaced a local file server?

Inappropriate?Hi Dave,
What do you intend to do? From what I understand so far, a viable option could be to apply the following procedure:
1.) Create a private group in Wuala
2.) Untick the option "make profile public"
3.) Invite all members of your company to the group
4.) Create one account with 100 GB
5.) Every night, go to the group using the 100 GB-Account and simply copy & past all the files that have been inserted; this will lead to the storage being taken away from the 100GB account
6.) Now all the members whose storage is full can simply delete their "group postings" to the company group under "my files" to free their space again
Of course this depends on how many files are added every day. Other than that, we do not currently have a "storage alocation" mechanism built into Wuala.
Did this solve your problem or is this option not viable for you?
Best,
Andreas -
Inappropriate? While technically that would work, its not practical. At least half of my users can't remember to empty their recycle bin, let alone remove files they've shared.

Inappropriate? The 100GB member would be great as a backup, but maybe (since "group storage" seems to take a while...) it might be possible in the meantime to implement a "take over files" button? If I manually add and afterwards delete a single bit from a file in a group from another user, I still "own" it. However, if I understood it correctly, I would have to download all those files - which could take a while!
If one could just (maybe even via workarounds) take over all files with a central account this might help. -
Inappropriate?I'm a little lost on part of your reply, but the idea of a "take over files" button sounds good.
Short term that might work for us, but long term I'd love to see a Wuala for business. -
Inappropriate?I'm curious what your business justification and/or reason would be to have a remote file space versus using a local one?

1TB of Wuala space maybe costs less per year than a internet connection with fast upload, a server, cooling for the server, backup systems (though you should backup data on Wuala of course!), space, time, support contracts...
Also a business where many members are spread out and just meet regularly to discuss and then spread out again to work can profit very well from services like Wuala. -

Bugreport is right, for $600 a year we could have our files stored online, the hardware alone would be $1500 + maintenance, electricity, down time - an online option really makes more sense. Especially since we have 3 locations + field techs that are all on super slow connections. If we tried to raise the speed of the internet connection in our main office that would cost us over $600 a month. -
It seems Wuala needs to set up a way to purchase storage for a group.
Would all 30 to 50 users have to run Wuala clients to get and put files in the Wuala space? How much support time will that take up? -

I cannot currently say when it will be released but a solution that will cover the above mentioned problem is on the roadmap.
@ sunk818
Since users can share files through the internet, not all of the "receivers" would have to use the Wuala client. Only those willing to upload files would have to use it.
