start wuala at computer startup and run as a service
Hi,
I'd like to install wuala on a windows XP clients to earn credits for me and to use the unused diskspace on that computer.
since this computer is used from many users, wuala should start at startup and run all the time in the background.
I tried the scheduler and added Wuala there to be started with my personal login at this domain (it is an administrator user though) so that I can access my personal settings.
However, the programm does not start. Most likely it ist the GUI that prevents Wuala from starting.
How can I start Wuala in command line mode in an XP environment?
How can I solve my problem?

Inappropriate?the wuala team has stated that you dont need to login to a client (where you have previously already logged in), to earn credits.
so you dont need a service, but you could actually simply run wuala.exe from either autostart/staturp methods inside your windows....
that could be: put a wuala link/shortcut copy intou your startup/autostart folder, put a link to wuala.exe into your registry (hklm or hklu software microsoft windows currentversion run) and so on....
wuala simply needs to startup.
logging in is a second aspect, and you can ofcourse save your usrename/password combination inside the wuala client.

google for it.

if you still need to run wuala for example without even logging onto the windows machine itself.
there are many other methods, guis for servicewrappers, and even java servicewrappers, so wuala could indeed someday maybe add direct support for being run as a service......

Inappropriate?I would suggest running Wuala as a service using http://serviceex.com/
I haven't tried it on wuala but it works fairly good with most other programs and since wuala stores all data within the own files, there is no need for a logon and the use of a registry key so it should work for wuala too. even better it will (at your disposal) also hide all user interface interactions.
I for my part have a ed2k server running on my server PC 24/7 without ever even seening the cmd interface.
