Vista x64 Business - File System Integration Does Not Work
I'm running Vista x64 Business and wuala. Everything works great except file system integration. The status dialog says a Network Interface is available and the service is running but the network drive is not connected.
Things i've tried:
Disabling windows firewall, SMB is really paranoid in vistas firewall.
Starting wuala as administator
Adding compatibility "Run as administrator" to winbridge.exe (I never get an escalation prompt making me think either it is a service or is not used)
Any ideas?
THings you want me to try?

Inappropriate?if im not mistaken this winbind.exe is a thirdparty app that caleido/wuala is licensing/buying/using from somewhere, so maybe its still not really x64 capable, or vista on x64 has some security or structural/api limitations on who can bind to networking ports and who not (maybe security/driver/kernel-ring stuff or architecture 32bit/64bit differences and so on)....
cant tell for sure...
there seems to be some netbios/smb issues on vista at some scenarios, though this might not have to fit your situation at all, but maybe you take a look at some knowledgebaseentries at msft
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933468
you might try the workaround (modding the registry) section thoug. save your registry keys/subtree before you apply those changes though so that you can revert back.
smb is a very lousy "protocol". maybe the wuala team will think about some other methods
cheers. -
Inappropriate?Filesystem integration is not related to winbridge at all. Winbridge is only used for the "Set as background" feature. :)
About the integration: unfortunately, we haven't got 64-Bit Vista yet, but it works on my 32-Bit Vista Business Edition. You could try accessing the integrated network drive directly from the file explorer by entering the address \\Wua\ into the address bar. If the file system integration runs correctly, you should see a folder 'La' that contains a readme file. If not, let me know what windows says and whether it differs when you try random other pathes like \\Xxx\. -
Inappropriate?"The network path was not found."
That would explain why i don't seem to be using winbridge ;)
Is there some kind of log that i could post here that may give insight as to why it is failing?
I’m confident

Inappropriate? You can check if NetBios is enabled, see:
http://ecross.mvps.org/howto/netbt.htm
(Restart Wuala after having enabled it.)
Furthermore, you could try to install a local loopback adapter
http://blogs.msdn.com/virtual_pc_guy/...
Let me know if any of this helped in case you try it. -
Inappropriate?Still doesn't work.
Forced enable netbios
added loopback adapter
Each time i open the file integration status window it increments. "\\wua16\la" ... 17,18,19,...
Also tried: Disabling all other NIC's.
Restarted wuala after each change. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for testing. The latest release has an event log for the filesystem integration at: Options > general > check > show log
The log shows the last 50 events. Let me know what it says on your computer and if there are exceptions showing up. -
Inappropriate?I noticed that just now.

Also note: I have changed the security policy to allow lm & ntlm & ntlm2
I tried changing it back to defaults and it had no effect. -
Inappropriate?Any progress? I am really interested in this program. But can't use it the way I want till i get FSI to work. If there is anything i can do to help make this work let me know.
-
Inappropriate? We've got a new computer yesterday with 64-Bit Vista. And, fortunately, FSI doesn't work there. We'll have a closer look at this in teh next days.
-
Inappropriate?Do you have multiple network cards?
Can you connect to shares on other computers?
