Web accessible files
I'm not sure if this is on the todo list, but I think it should be. It would rock to have web access to my wuala files. Then I could, for example, access my files from any university machine without installing the wuala software on it. I know some places are ridiculously locked down, so that you can't install anything, so a browser-based solution would work well.
Ideally, I could just go to http://wua.la/ , type in my username/password and it would take me to an SSL-encrypted listing of my files. It doesn't have to be anything fancier than that.
Maybe in some distant future, you would also provide an API for accessing data on wua.la?

Our plan here is the following: we can't provide true http access as that would only be possible if our server knew your files in plain text. So you would have to send us your password which is against our privacy policy and strategy. However, there will be a Java applet soon that will be able to run Wuala without installation. So if your university computers have Java 1.5 or later installed, you'll be able to use Wuala. Furthermore, we've planned to add proxy support and maybe to even provide an own proxy which would enable you to use Wuala even if your university or company only allowed http traffic.
We've also planned to provide an API later on. This API will most likely come in the form of a Java library that can be used to access your files and metadata.

Inappropriate?Would it not be possible, to allow http access to certain files and then set up a seperate password which your servers may know (with a setting which tells the users that the password will be given to your servers...)
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Jeah, maybe like the "invitecodes"!

Inappropriate? Was about to post the same thing, would you be able to download files to the local hard drive and or upload files from the local hard drive or will it be view only?
-
I can only guess that the Java version will come with a view-only and (possibly later) with a write access version. The reason for this is that this applet is also meant to enable users who do not have your PW to be able to view your content iff you give them a link (that is as far as I can gather) -
If Java version = webstart version: this enables you to view AND store files within Wuala. But you need an account to be able to write or store something. Anonym. access gives you only read access.
