Maybe some kind of in-browser client that doesn't require a login but can still access folders marked public?

The download and the login are the only hurdles that seem like they'd be removable, and a lightweight client like that might be a gateway that'd push them forward to the full application. But that seems like a lot of work for what would probably amount to very little overall benefit.
