Wuala on Windows 2000 problem
I'm a new Wuala user.
I installed it on my home machine running Windows XP without a problem. But I can't make it run on my second computer running Windows 2000.
It installs correctly but the program seems to crash when launched. The wuala.exe process appears shortly in the task manager then disappears without an error message. I have admin rights on this machine.
Is Wuala compatible with Windows 2000?
The more people who ask this question, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?Hi Zennf,
Unfortunately Wuala is not compatible with Windows 2000, I am clearly sorry ;-(
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Too bad!

Inappropriate?not win2k compatible? wondering.... in what way not compatible when its a java app.... weird...
at least some info/dialogbox should come up and tell the user whats happening. -
Inappropriate?ehm, i am actually running wuala on windows 2000 and its working fine, except the filesystem integration. everything else is doing like it is on winXP: just fine :)
-
Inappropriate?OK. we change our tune here.
Wuala does sometimes run on Win2K, but most people have problems to get it running.
I’m confused

Inappropriate?@Habasch
Could you explain the steps you took to have it running?
I can't get it to start.
@moritz_
Wuala is a great program. I use it on 3 different machines and like every second of it. I also try to convert my colleagues.
My only peeve is Windows 2000 support. Your previous message gave me some hope but it might be misplaced. So to clarify matters : will your company investigate the problems with Win2k or is it pointless to expect a fix?
thanks in advance
I’m Full of hope

Inappropriate?I was able to make make the W:\ drive work on Windows 2000 SP4 (install NetBEUI), but I still can't fast-forward movies I try to view from Wuala like I can from XP SP2. So, I can still upload & download from inside Wuala but its not as easy to use as it is on my XP computer.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?@david: we will change the installer along with web start and i really hope it will solve the problems. i had it running on a win2k computer as well (don't have that anymore), but i also heard from people having problems. do you have a .log file in the program directory or anything that could have a look at?

Inappropriate?@Dominik
Thanks for looking at the Win2K problems. Here is a copy of error.log. I hope it helps.

Inappropriate?@David: When you first start, Wuala tries to get all current Jar files from our servers so that you have the latest version. Probably this update didn't work. Maybe you're not logged in as an admin so that Wuala couldn't store the Jar files?

Inappropriate?Hi Dominik.
I have local admin rights but my computer sits behind a proxy which may be the cause of this connection problem.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?i didnt so anything at all - i installed wuala and it worked. same thing did my friend, he's running win2k too. i even tried installing it on a virtual machine with a different (not modiefied cd - on my real pc runs a win2k version i made with nlite) win2k version and it worked. only thing that might be special is that i installed wuala always with administrator login...
and since i installed netBEUI (restarting needed) even filesystem integration works :)
thx @ sunk
I’m happy because everything works

Inappropriate?Solved. It needed NetBIOS. This is the important dependence.
