Can't edit phone number field!

I can't edit my phone number in My Account. I needed to put a 1 in front of my phone number.

I signed up from the US. I didn't put the country code before my phone number so it wouldn't send me an SMS. I tried to edit my phone number in My Account but there is no edit capability for phone numbers. So I deleled the account and tried to start all over but alas it says my phone/email/signon name are already taken. All I needed to do was put a 1 in front of my phone number. Can you clear my account so I can start over?
